"No no no!! You can't do this! This is so unfair! It's cruel and...and unfair!" Kaleb continued screeching in my ear as I shoved him into my house and locked the door behind me.
I was a struggle to get him up the stairs and into the foyer. At first I told him that I just needed to stop by and pick up a jacket but seeing as how it was almost 70 degrees outside, he didn't exactly believe me.
Once I finally got the large buffoon in the living room, the noise died down and the adults sitting around the TV all turned around and stared.
"Oh hi sweetie! Where's Linda?" My mom piped up from the corner before getting up and giving Kaleb a hug. I stood next to her and grinned when Kaleb shot me a sour face.
"I'm good. Mrs.-"
"Nope! I've told you numerous times to call me Diana!"
Kaleb just smiled and nodded before my mom let go of him.
Jamie crept up behind him and spoke in a super nasally tone. "Hiii Kaleb!"
Kaleb nearly shot three feet in the air and turned around quickly and made shooing motions with his hands as if warding off the devil.
Jamie and I started cracking up. I know, we're such children. But who can blame us? It's not everyday we see a 6 foot tall giant boy cower in fear of a super annoying dumb blonde.
He shot us an annoyed look and stomped upstairs like a petulant child. We followed him to my room still giggling.
"What are you two idiots laughing about?"
Our laughter died in our throats as Kelly's high pitched voice stopped us.
"None of your beeswax!" I replied. Wow. Great one. How old are you? Five?
I cringed and stepped to the side only to be stopped by Kelly. Again.
"What do you want Kelly? Didn't take your bitch pills this morning?" I mentally cheered at my improved insult.
"I-what?! No!"
I raised an eyebrow and opened my mouth to reply when I was suddenly interrupted.
"Where'd you go? You were right behind me! Did you read this book yet by the way Kit-" Kaleb finally looked up from the book in his hands and took in the sight before him.
Kelly's attitude suddenly changed from snarky to over the top flirtatious. She not so discreetly pulled her crop top down lower and sauntered closer.
"Hiii Kaleb! Long time no see!" She trailed a long talon-ahem I mean nail down his chest in an attempt to be...seductive?
Kaleb winced and stumbled back into the doorway. He attempted a feeble smile in Kelly's direction but it came out as more of a wince.
I stiffed another laugh and edged around the pair. Kaleb shot me a look saying help me. I nudged Jamie and she got the hint. She scrambled downstairs for the classic i'm telling mom!
Seconds later, Jamie's mom was climbing up the stairs to find her other daughter halfway on top of poor Kaleb and her niece on the floor laughing.
I know it was mean of me to laugh at Kaleb's misery but come on, the boy gets drooled over on a daily basis at school. It was nice to see him repulsed by the opposite sex.
As soon as my aunt saw the scene she dragged Kelly by her arm out of the hallway and down the stairs to sit with the adults.
"Wait no mom! I promise I'll behave!"
My aunt hesitated but before she could change her mind, Jamie nudged her towards the stairs. My aunt took the hint and dragged Kelly downstairs with her.
We helped Kaleb off the floor and shuffled into my room.
"That's was torture. Pure torture" Kaleb whined.
"I know. I'm sorry but it was so funny!"
"I can't believe you did that! You let...that thing...practically molest me!"
At his words, Jamie and I burst out laughing again. Kaleb just huffed and crossed his arms and pouted.
"Oh come on. Let's watch a movie. How about that?" I suggested.
Kaleb's eyes lit up and I immediately knew what movie he wanted to watch. I groaned and inserted the disc for Tangled. Kaleb had probably seen this movie 14 times with me. Not that I'm counting but this would be the 15th time. I mean sure Flynn was cute but after the 15th time, it just got tiring.
"What's this movie called?" Jamie piped up from under my covers.
Kaleb gasped dramatically and turned to face her.
"I---What?! You've never seen Tangled?!?!" Kaleb looked like he was about to cry. He could be childish at times and over the top dramatic.
I just sat back and watched the scene unfold. Kaleb went on to narrate the entire story-and I mean the ENTIRE story- to Jamie and gushed over the small sappy details like a hormonal teenage girl.
"So...Flynn dies?" Jamie asked.
Kaleb nodded gravely. Wow what a great idea Kaleb. Tell the girl who's never seen the movie, the entire story line and then let's watch it. Because that makes all the sense in the world.
Finally when the two of them stopped talking, we all climbed on the bed after shutting off the lights and played the movie.
Jamie had already set up shop on the right side of the bed with eyes trained on the opening song and Kaleb was sitting in the middle. There was hardly any room left and I went to go search for my chair but a large hand yanked me back.
Kaleb motioned for me to squeeze in next to him. I hesitated. There was a itty bitty space left. Against my better judgement I flopped down in that tiny space. Kaleb snaked his arm around my waist and pulled me flush to his side. I think I stopped breathing for a second. I was practically sitting on his lap with his arms around me. I could feel his warm breath on my ear and I suppressed a shiver. Butterflies started flapping around in my stomach and I tried my hardest to focus on the movie.
I heard Kaleb start to sing along to the healing song while tracing circles on my thigh. I had changed into soffe shorts and a old band tshirt. Bad decision. Goosebumps popped up all over my arms and legs as his fingers continued to roll lazy circles. Maybe he didn't realize the effect his fingers were having on me.
I decided instead to just listen to the song. Kaleb actually wasn't a bad singer. Pretty good actually.
"Do you like it?"
Kaleb paused. "Like what? Touching you or the movie?"
Times like this, I thanked god for dark rooms. My face flushed and I squirmed in embarrassment. Kaleb's arms tightened around me and I could feel his silent laugh.
"I love..." He began.
I held my breath. Love what? LOVE WHAT?!?! JUST SAY IT!
"...this movie." I let out the breath that I didn't know I was holding. For some unknown reason I felt disappointed? What was I expected him to say anyways?
We watched the rest of the movie in peace. Well sort of. Kaleb still hadn't removed his hands. I had a feeling he knew what I was thinking because he started leaving small butterfly kisses on the side of my neck. I didn't think before tilting my head to the side, giving him better access. Tingles ran through my body and my skin felt like it was on fire wherever his mouth touched. They were barely there kisses but it suddenly felt too hot in my room.
Just as I opened my mouth, the door opened with a creak. A long shadow appeared in the doorway.
"Just what do you think you idiots are doing here in the dark?" A familiar voice rang out.
