"LUCY SAID MIDNIGHT!" George exclaimed as Alice and Lockwood stumbled into the house.
"Is she home yet?" Alice inquired.
Lucy tore out of the kitchen, "Yeah, yeah, I'm here."
"Where's the mirror?" George demanded. "What the hell have you two been doing all night?"
"I'll tell you later," Lockwood assured.
KNOCK!
They all turned, eyes wide, staring at the door. Someone banged against it again.
"Whose that?" George inquired.
Lockwood and Alice exchanged a look. He went over to the peephole, looking outside and then turning back to them, face gaunt, "It's Carver."
Alice pulled out her knife as Lockwood unsheathed his rapier. "Jack Carver, Danny's partner," she explained when Lucy shot her a glance.
Lucy unsheathed her rapier.
Alice paused: there was something wrong.
She watched in shock horror as Lockwood opened the door, and Jack Carver stumbled inside. But there was a look inside his wild eyes that screamed something that Alice knew well.
Death.
Alice darted forward, grabbing Carver as the man fell to the ground, a knife embedded in his back.
"Oh my god!" George gasped.
"Call an ambulance now!" Lockwood demanded. Lucy darted towards the phone.
Alice kneeled next to Carver, grabbing his hand and forcing him to look at her. "Who did this to you?"
Carver stared back at her, never leaving her eyes. Blood was coating his lips now. "Bone glass."
"What did he say?" Lockwood inquired as they all kneeled beside him.
"Bone glass, what does that mean?" George inquired.
Alice shushed them. She held his hand gently, trying to ease his spirit away it its fight from his body as she tapped into her magic. "Carver, love, speak to me?"
He shuddered, his voice a croaked slur. "Seven. Not one."
Seven spirits trapped into the glass.
"Did you look into it? What did you see?" George demanded.
"Terrible things..." Carver slurred out.
Alice watched as the last breath left his body, his eyes going still and his hand going slack in hers.
"...Come with me..." his spirit offered.
"Where to?" Lucy inquired, looking forward.
Alice looked up at Lucy, perplexed. She could hear his spirit. Strange.
Lockwood and George exchanged a look. "What... what did you hear?"
"He wants us to go with him," Alice replied, frowning, "He called us to follow him."
"You heard too?" Lucy asked, eyes wide.
Alice nodded, letting go of Carver's hand and gently squeezing Lucy's knee.
