They had moved there from Post World War Three Planet Earth from Houston, Texas on the USS Yorktown and they had settled on Talos Four.
Thomas Riley was a United Federation of Planet Employee working for the government of Talos Four and Karen Riley was a stay-home mother taking care of their two children, Kevin Thomas Riley born in 2248 and Kimberly Teresa Riley born in 2255.
When Thomas and Karen Riley fled from Post World War Three Planet Earth from Houston, Texas in 2244, it was due to religious intolerance between The Irish Catholic and The Irish Protestant.
Thomas Brian Riley was born in a Roman Catholic Irish Family in 2228 and Karen Bridget Kelly was born in a Irish Protestant family in 2230.
They first met while working at the same business where Thomas Riley was an accountant and Karen Kelly was a secretary working for the same firm.
They started to date each other in 2246, and they were married in 2247, and they fled to Talos four and they settled on Talos four where their two children were born, Kevin in 2248 and Kimberly in 2255.
They lived in a modest but comfortable house and they got along with all their neighbors on Talos four and everything was going well for them until 2266, where Kudos, The Governor was faced with a famine and then the provincial government started to ration out food by food coupons.
By this time, their son, Kevin Thomas Riley had graduated from high school in 2266, and he decided to enter Star-Fleet Academy to study Engineering.
The famine didn't start to get worse until 2269, while Kevin Thomas Riley was away, it is when Kudos, the governor decided who was going to live and who was going to die in order to preserve food.
The Provisional government of Talos Fourth decided that only the elite would receive the remaining of the food supply before it ran out and rather than see people slowly die of starvation, Kudos decided to execute nearly ⅔ of his people and three of them were Thomas, Karen and Kimberly Riley.
