It was a hot Friday, hotter than usual.

Furthermore, it was almost 6 in the afternoon, I would have left my studio shortly after and I know that it's not very professional to say, but I couldn't wait to leave that damn place.

The air conditioning wasn't working and as you can imagine I couldn't really go to work dressed as I was going to the beach, maybe I'm just fussy, but I was almost always wearing something elegant that wasn't too much, long black trousers and a white long-sleeved blouse, so I was really dying with those clothes on.

I was working on 3 different cases, for the first one I would have had a trial in a short time, for the second one I had to contact several people who could have been witnesses and for the last one I had to make an appointment with a company that according to the accusations was guilty of various crimes.

My head was about to explode, I was really tired and the only reason I was still standing were the 3 coffees that I had previously drunk.

Just as I was about to fell asleep on my desk my phone started ringing.

It was...Bridgette?

We had spoken in the morning, so I found it strange that she was already calling me again, but I answered anyway.

"Hi Bri how are you doing-"
"CHRIS FUCKING SUED US!"

She screamed that so loudly that I got seriously scared, I moved the phone a little bit away from my ear and processed the information for a few milliseconds.

I could clearly hear and feel that she was in tears, she was sobbing and even though her words weren't clear I understood them, I unfortunately did.

"He did what?"

I asked it again not because I didn't understand the first time, but because my brain still had to accept it.

"He fucking sued us! For defamation!? He wants 2 million dollars in compensation.."

She said the last sentence in a mumble, as if she was afraid to speak.

"I'll be there in 10 minutes."

I closed my computer, grabbed my bag and my car keys.

I immediately left my studio and went as quickly as possible out of the building, my two colleagues didn't even ask me what had happened, I don't think they ever saw me that worried.

I ran to my car and in less than 10 minutes I was at Bridgette's, ringing repeatedly her doorbell.

Not only this man was the cause of Blaineley's death, now he was also trying to destroy Bridgette and Geoff's lives just because they wanted to spread the truth about him.

When the door finally opened there was...Duncan.

I looked at him for a moment in amazement, I was expecting Bridgette in tears or Geoff in panic to open the door..instead I got him.
