Chapter 3

Reader's POV

"I spy with my eyes, something that begins with 's'" Aphmau states.

I smile while driving through the snow coveredd forest.

"Snow." Zane replies.

"Darn it! How did you know?" Aph pouts.

"Oh gee, I don't know, maybe because it's the only thing that's been around for the past five miles!" Zane shouts.

Aphmau blows a raspberry. "Fine. Ah, let's see. I spy with my eye something that begins with 's'."

Gene raises his hand in the back seat. "I know!"

"Again? It's snow." Yells Zane.

Gene groans having his answer ruined.

"Actually, it's not." Aphmau proclaims.

Both Gene and Zane's interests peak, "Huh? What else could it possibly be?" asked Zane.

"It's 's' for sour puss, because that's what you're being right now" Aph huffs.

I stifle a laugh and keep my eyes on the road ahead.

"Oh, ha ha, very funny." Zane rolls his eye.

As I'm driving, I hear a soft whimper in the back seat. I look in the rear-view mirror, making eye contact with Zane. "Are you okay, Zane?"

"Yeah, just, uh... can we pull over real quick?"

I raise a brow, "uh, sure?" The car slowly comes to a stop on the side of the road. Zane hurries out of the car as Aphmau, Gene and I get out as well.

"Why did we stop? We're not too far from the place where we need to be" Aph questioned Zane.

"Because! I'm uh... my knees were locking up and I need to stretch, that's all. So I'm going for a walk," Zane avoided.

"Oh, well then, I'll go with you," Aph said.

"I could use a walk." I pitched in.

"No! I'm going alone. You all stay here and watch the car," Zane ordered.

"Oh, okay? Are you sure you don't want me to-?"

"I'm positive!" Zane screeches, interrupting Aphmau. "Now stay put!" Zane waddles away quickly.

Aph looks at me and I shrug my shoulders. I started some leg stretches.

Gene leans against the car. "How much farther do we have?"

"Not much longer. We should get there in thirty minutes, maybe twenty-five, I don't know."

"Do you think there will be Wi-Fi" Aphmau asks.

"I sure hope so." I move on to some arm stretches.

Aphmau pulls Gene aside to have a private conversation with him. Politely, I turn away and try not to listen to their conversation.

When Zane comes back, the two split and we all pile back into the car.

Zane was urgently tapping his foot. "Can you drive any faster?"

"Calm down, we're literally almost there." I answer.

"I. Have. To. Pee." Zane yells.

"Zane, if you dare pee in my car, you'll clean it, inside and out. I don't want a drop or even a stench left behind." I say menacingly.
