Chapter 19

Third Person POV

Aaron hunched over, his arm resting against a nearby tree for support. He held tightly onto his side to catch his breath. His body screamed at him to stop and lay down to rest. But he couldn't. He wouldn't.

"Aaron? Are you okay?" Lucinda spoke from beside him, finally having caught up with him.

She placed her hand on his shoulder before quickly pulling back as she noticed the spot was moist. She looked to her own hand and saw the mysterious liquid. It was Aaron's blood and there was a lot of it.

"Aaron, you're bleeding." Her voice rushed out in a whisper.

Aaron groaned, shaking his head and punching the tree before running off deeper into the forest.

"Aaron!" Lucinda could only chase after him.

.

In a different part of the forest, two black-haired males stood looking around. They were lost and searching for their brother.

"Brother!" Zane's voice rang out in concern. "BROTHERRR!!!"

Gene patted Zane's shoulder in comfort. "Our brother will not abandon us so easily, Zane."

Zane looked at Gene, his eyes wide in worry. "Where could he have gone?"

"I don't know, but where ever he is, he'll find us." Gene comforted.

The upon a sound of crunching snow behind them, the two males paused and turned around.

"YOU!!!" Zane pointed an accusing finger at Kim and Garroth who approached the pair.

"Oh Zane! My love! I-"

As Kim as about to run to the pair Garroth quickly stood in front of her, effectively blocking her path to the potioned people. "Stop!"

"Huh? How dare you? I-" GhostKim was protesting.

"Please. Zane is afraid. If we approach him too fast, he might run." Garroth reasoned with the ghost in Kim.

"But-"

"Do you want the Zane you knew back?" Garroth asked.

GhostKim took a step back, seemingly in thought. Garroth took the opportunity to approach Zane and Gene, who were watching the two ever so closely.

"STAY BACK! Brother told us not to talk to anyone!" Zane's eyebrows narrowed as he felt threatened.

Gene pulled Zane away from Garroth as shielded him from the older Ro'Meave. "Yeah! What he said!"

"Zane, please! Look at me you must remember who I am somewhere in your mind." Garroth pleaded looking past Gene to Zane.

"I DON'T!" Zane stared into Garroth's eyes, refusing to acknowledge ever knowing him.

"Please. I'm your brother!" Garroth's eyebrows fell as a frown pulled at his face.

Zane laughed. "You seem like a selfish buffoon. Nothing like my real brother!" Zane crossed his arms triumphantly.

"Selfish? Zane, I've never been selfish." Garroth's frown grew bigger as he stared off into his brother's eyes.

Zane's gaze fell to the floor. "Are you kidding me!?"

Zane's voice broke as he struggled to speak. "All the times you made me do things I was never comfortable with doing! All the times everyone said you were better than me! You never acknowledged how I felt! YOU NEVER DID!!!" Zane let out a strained scream as he voiced his deepest inner thoughts.
