Not even ten minutes after his shift began, spilled drinks, candy, and utensils were scattered all over the porcelain floor. Licorice was sneaked into some of the bowls, followed by cheesy giggles coming from the jester himself. Salt was replaced with sugar multiple times throughout the day, and endless apologies to customers were escaping the poor Mandy, who had to deal with this troublemaker.

She was trying really hard to not snap, but after his previous prank with the blowing up confetti, Mandy has had enough. With her teeth gritted and eyebrows furrowed, she gripped her sceptre and started shooting at Chester with it unthinkingly.

The joker simply smiled and dodged all of her attacks before getting ready to cause more trouble. He was about to put more stink bombs in one of the huge candy bowls in the storage room in an attempt to make the room stink, but suddenly, he was stopped by a loud scream coming from none other than Mandy herself.

"EEEENOOOUGHHHH!" She screamed loudly, losing her voice for a second. She sat down on the floor and took her head in her hands.

"Oh man... man, man, man... can you just stop already?! What is all this for, to piss me off? Because it's working!"

She called for one of her employees to give her a painkiller because of the immense headache she was having at this moment.

Chester felt bad for a second, but his uncaring attitude returned.

"Aww, you got hurt? The poor baby..." he mocked her.

Mandy couldn't come up with a response; she didn't want to respond anyway.

The painkillers were soon served to her by a dark-haired employee as she took just two. She took a deep breath and got up from the floor, going over to the soft couch which she dropped herself on. She was clearly tired, and couldn't deal with his... bad s word anymore.

"You okay?" Chester asked her, realizing he may have went a tad too far. Mandy ignored him and turned her back to him.

Silently, Chester left the room, feeling proud but at the same time, bad.

An hour before everyone's shift had ended, Edgar, the known emo of Starr Park, came into the store, looking for some sweets to buy for Colette. Colette was sick, so Edgar decided to get her something to cheer her up in case she was feeling terrible. Mandy had already gotten up and was back at the front desk with Tessa. Edgar noticed Mandy working and decided to approach her.

"Yo, Mandy!"

Mandy turned her head toward him and smiled. She came up to him.

"Hey, anything uh.. specific you looking for?" her voice was slightly cracked due to her fight with Chester a couple of minutes ago. Edgar noticed.

"Your voice..."

"Ah, that, nothing to worry about... just that dumb jester getting on everyone's nerves again, 'specially mine. Gosh, I hate him."

"...Understandable. Anyway, I was-"

"And he's such a jerk, you won't get it! Sure, you're not the nicest guy, but he's the definition of pure evil! How can someone be like that?!"

"...Uh-huh. As I was-"

"Why can't he be a normal guy for once? I swear I'm going to fire-"

AHEM AHEM.

She was interrupted by Edgar, who was trying to say something this whole time.

"Oh-! I'm so sorry... I went a bit off track there, didn't I? Haha, funny..." When she saw Edgar's unamused face, she mumbled a "sorry" once more.

"I need some cherry-flavored sweets. Can you get that for me, please?"

"Right away. Sorry, again."

Mandy started getting all kinds of cherry-flavored sweets, her back turned to Edgar as she picked wisely. Edgar suddenly said:

"You know, you and Chester would make a great couple."

Mandy instantly turned to him, her cheeks flushing a pinkish red.

"Excuse me?"

"I said you and Chester would make a great pair."

"No offense, but that's like- the dumbest thing I've ever heard in my whole life. Me and that guy? Please. He's a good-for-nothing trouble maker. His description fits the devil himself! Who would ever date that guy?"

Edgar chuckled as Mandy handed him his order, her blush still visible. She couldn't believe Edgar would suggest something like that, those words from him was totally out of the blue.

"You would." Edgar said teasingly, laying the cash on the counter for Mandy to take. "You can keep the change." Without another word, he exited the shop, leaving Mandy stunned.

"Whatever..." she said, before announcing that the shop was closing and that everyone could pack their things and go home.
