I slowly walked through the hallway trying not to cause any sort of commotion.

It was quite easy to do so, considering the floors were made of marble instead of wood

I stood still waiting for the small tinkling melody to play again.

I would wait for it to play before going on to make sure I was going in the right direction.

(Ding, ding ding, or some tinkling idk)

I started to follow the small noise that was gradually getting louder as I ventured deeper into the halls.

That's odd, the sound was coming from Kanade's room.

Does he know how to compose music?

I am getting my hopes way too high.

What is even the point of trying to ask him about the melody that's playing right now?

It's not like he would want to help if I asked anyway.

I turned intending to walk away but of course, at the worst time, I had made a small thud with my feet.

Stupid platypus feet.

Suddenly the music stopped from the other side of the door.

If I don't start running he might find me and I'll look like a stalker.

I wanted to start sprinting right there but then I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Sorry to bother you Kanade, I didn't mean for it to look like I was stalking you."

I started to think about the words that would come out of my mouth next.

I could be straightforward and tell him that I wanted to know where the small music was coming from, or I could lie to him and just call it a day.

"I just wanted to observe the castle a bit more and I thought nobody would be awake right now."

Hopefully, he believes me.

"If you want I can give you a tour right now, No one can bother us while we are viewing everything. Also, I prefer the quiet if you don't mind."

The lie I told wasn't supposed to make this happen.

If I say no I might look suspicious or mean. And if I say yes... maybe I should just go.

There's no actual harm in touring the castle is there?

I just have to hope my mom won't find out about this.

"Sure, I would love to go on a tour."

Kanade smiled softly and motioned me to follow him.

"So, where are we going first?"

I asked while passing by a couple of doors.

"My favorite room."
