Ivory bolted straight up in bed, only to fall back against her now warm pillows. There was a strange weight against her stomach, and it bounced when she fell back. For a moment she ignored the strange feeling, then she remembered the weirdest night of her life.
“Um… wakey wakey- can you get off me please?” Ivory craned her neck forward to get a better look at the man asleep on her tummy. Said man groaned and rolled off her, only to fall head first onto the floor. “Alek? Are you okay?” Ivory turned and sat up in bed, gazing down at the bickering vampire that was rubbing the new sore spot on his head.
“Do I look okay? Blasted floor! Why the Hell did you have to go and wake me up for, Saya!” Alekczander growled as he rose to his feet, only to freeze at his own words.
“I don’t know who you were dreaming about, and I don’t want to, but I’m not Saya. It’s me, Ivory. I woke you up ‘cuz you were heavy.” Ivory stretched and jumped from bed, completely full of energy. She crossed the dim room to her desk to check the time and then she entered a black door that led to her closet. “Yo, stranger danger! Alek, if you’re gonna hang around the least you can do is not suffocate me, okay?” Ivory giggled as she picked out an outfit. It was four O’clock, right on the dot, but she was too wired to go back to sleep.
“Sorry, I sleep like the dead. Speaking of the dead, did you know you died in your sleep?” Alekczander leaned against the painted door frame. She had died in her sleep, and hardly an hour later, had she revived. How was that even possible? He cast an odd look at the teen as she danced around her closet, trying to find something to wear.
“Strange… black, purple, or red?” Ivory moved to the back of the closet and held out three shirts, each one of the colors she had just mentioned. He motioned towards the one in the middle; the red one. It was a dark crimson color, and surely see-through. Ivory grabbed a black tank-top of a hanger and began to look for bottoms. “I think I did have a dream, but I can’t remember it. I felt like I died, at least twice. It was cold, is that weird?” She rambled on as she pulled a small black and red-stained, wrap-around skirt off another hanger.
“For any normal person, I would have to say yes. But I don’t think you’re normal.” Alekczander gave the teen an odd look as she shoved past him to reach her dresser and yank out a pair of lacy fishnets. How could the girl have so much energy after only four hours of sleep?
“Aw, don’t flatter a girl. I’m going to go take a shower. If you peep I will cut your head off and stab you with a silver-laced stake. There should be coffee down stairs, help yourself.” Ivory flashed a beautifully innocent smile as she dashed down the hall with her bundle of clothes in hand. Alekczander stared at the strange girl as she skipped down the hall. What normal person can threaten you and offer you coffee in the same breath? He asked himself. “Apparently she can…” His inner voice mocked. Shut the Hell up! “No,” Die! “Been there, done that. You shut up and go drink some coffee.” Leave me alone! Alekczander screamed into his head, but he did shut up, and he did go search for coffee.
Ivory set her bundle onto the small shelf on the back of her toilet before locking the door and turning on the light of the tiny bathroom. She slipped out of her clothes and let them fall to the floor. Stepping into the shower she closed the curtain and blasted hot water on her back. Very slowly, Ivory sank to her knees and cried as the dream- no, memories- came flooding back to her. All the pain and sorrow of the twins, of her past life, came crashing down on her. Silent sobs wracked her frame as she struggled to get a grip on reality, her reality. Tears of anguish turned into tears of relief as she realized Michelle’s wish had come true. She had both the souls off those girls, locked inside of her forever.
“Breath, smile, laugh, even if it hurts. It’s okay; because the pain lets you know you’re alive.” Ivory chanted. After a moment, she was able to regain herself and continue her shower in a near normal manner. Rinsing the suds from her body, she turned off the water and stepped out. Ivory wrapped a huge purple towel around herself and dried off. The memories were painful, but pain wasn’t something new to her. She quickly dressed and dashed off to her room again. Once there, Ivory found her favorite pair of combat boots (the ones with multiple zippers and straps) and pulled them one. Checking the time once again, she wandered downstairs to check if her ‘guest’ was still there.
Alekczander glanced over at the young teen as she glided down the stairs, even in heavy boots, and nearly did a spit take. Ivory looked hot, and by hot he meant sexy. The girl’s outfit hugged every curve and sent a pleased shiver down his spine.
“Very sexy… I bet you have all the men answering your every beck and call.” Alekczander rose to meet her then poured her a cup of the strong brew. Ivory took the coffee from him and added her favorite French Vanilla creamer and four spoon-fulls of sugar.
“No, but that would be convenient. Most men find my taste rather… odd. I’m glad to find someone who appreciates it.” She smiled sweetly as she sat across from him at the counter. “It’s only five, so I have a couple of hours till school.” Ivory sipped her sweet drink slowly and eyed the disheveled man across from her. Alekczander’s black V-neck was crumpled from sleep and his jeans had looked wrinkled from what she saw of them. He followed her gaze and chuckled.
“What are you implying, little bunny?”
“First off, I’m not a bunny. I’m more of a neko, a cat. Allen, my best friend, is the usagi. You’re probably a bat or dog of some sort. Secondly, I’m not implying anything. I simply thought I should alert you of my plans for the day, jerk.” Ivory stalked over to her freezer where she took out a ham and cheese hotpocket before putting it in the microwave. Ignoring the incredulous stare she as receiving from the older man, she stomped upstairs and sat at her desk.
“What just happened?” Alekczander asked himself aloud as he watched as the moody girl marched upstairs.
