Ivory was down the stairs, out the door and walking down the driveway before the light in her room switched off signaling Allen’s absence. Dusk had long ago arrived to envelope the sleepy town of Magnolia Wind. The classy suburban style of the neighboring houses reminded her yet again that she was simply human. Turning down the driveway to walk along the side walk that ran beside every road in her small town, she spotted a car. It was parked in front of a house she had known to have been for sale for the past several months. Had someone just bought it? As soon as the thought had occurred to her a dark shadow emerged onto the darkened porch.

“May I help you, young miss?” The shadow spoke, melting away from the porch to flash in front of her. Ivory growled, irritated, at the shadow she now saw was a man. He smirked at her and slightly hovered over her, trying to make her feel inferior. “What’s wrong little bunny? Cat got your tongue?” the man practically purred at her. “So I’m a bunny? Funny! I just called the last perp who tried to intimidate me that! Get out of my way you fanged freak before I make you. I am NOT in the mood for this crap!”  The man hesitated slightly as Ivory shoved him aside and continued to walk in the direction of the recreational park a few blocks over. Had this girl just called him a fanged freak? Shadow man (as Ivory had subconsciously nicknamed him) grabbed her arm forcefully and flashed them into his house.

“What did you mean by fanged freak you idiotic bunny!”

“You reek of death and you just flashed, twice. I know you’re a vampire. Let me go, I’m going home.”

“Oh no you’re not! How did you? What the? Who are you? What are you?” shadow man’s voice was heavy with confusion. Sure the man had just abducted her, but Ivory never was one to listen to reason, or follow the rules for that matter. After a long sigh and receiving yet another confused glance from her ‘abductor’, Ivory eased herself into one of the scarce kitchen table chairs scattered throughout the room. She motioned for him to seat himself as well.Much to her surprise, he did. He pulled one of the old rickety chairs up to hers and seated himself opposite of her. Wonder and curiosity gleamed in his eyes that wear now visible to her own.

He was the perfect stereo-type vampire; slightly askew dark hair, almost black, brushed against his pail forehead, exposing his charcoal eyes that seemed to glow lightly with a crimson hue, as if seen through a filter. He was lean and tall, yet his muscles were visible through his tight black V-neck. His pants were tight too, and oh did they make him look yummy.

“Ask one question at a time, and I might answer, Mr. Shadowman.” Ivory shook herself out of her daze and leaned back, taking on the same pose she used on Allen. ‘Mr. Shadowman’ cocked his brow and smirked at her knowingly.

“You nickname every vamp you meet?” he chuckled as he too leaned back in his chair. Instead of crossing his arms like she did, he placed them on his knees, exposing his tightly clothed body for all to see.

“Is that your first question?”

“And if it is?” he mused.

“I nickname every person I meet in a strange way, vamp or otherwise.” She smirked back at him. She didn’t like how he was getting cocky with her. It must be a vamp thing. She thought idly. Then he laughed, it was similar to a low rumbling that reverberated inside of her. Mhmmmm. He sounds so yummy.

“Alright, how did you know I was I vampire?” the laughter in his voice was gone, and his dark eyes somehow seemed cold. She sighed and leaned back further in her chair.

“My best friend is a vampire.”

There was just no way, was there? This bunny couldn’t possibly be best friends with a vamp, could she? She was strange enough, that was for sure. She wasn’t even afraid, sitting here all alone with a blood sucking monster. He decided to ask the question he knew she would hesitate to answer.

“What are you?” his voice was barely above a whisper, and yet she seemed to have no problems with hearing him.
