"Y/n come on get up it's 10:30." Hermione said loudly shaking her.

"When did you get here Mione?" Y/n responded rubbing her eyes as the sunlight from the window next to her bed shone down on her face.

"About an hour ago Harry and Ron filled me in on everything that happened while I was gone." She stated sitting on the end of the bed. "I like the decorations you've put up too." She added.

"Yeah I did it the night before Christmas as I couldn't sleep."

"Why didn't you stop Harry going out after what happened last time, and you went with him." She said.

"We were trying to find things on Flamel and got sidetracked Mione sorry. I imagine your parents were no help either." She asked.

"No they weren't." She admitted.

"So how was your Christmas?" Y/n asked trying to turn the subject around.

"It was good, thank you for the book you got me it was so interesting. What about you Y/n?"

"One of the best Christmas' I've ever had, we had snowball fights and stuff. The only bad part was my parents not getting me anything." She said getting out of bed and grabbing clothes from her trunk. "I'll be back." She added heading for the bathroom.

When Y/n emerged from the bathroom she was caught off guard by Hermione hugging her.

"Mione, I enjoy breathing." She said sarcastically as Hermione let go.

"Sorry it's just how could your parents not get you anything."

"It's okay I was sort of expecting it after the howler they sent. Not sure what I'll do when I get home at the end of the school year." She admitted. She had no idea if she'd be kicked out, or maybe they'd just lock her in her room. But what if they did kick her out? Where could she go?

"Earth to Y/n." Hermione said waving her hand in front of Y/n's face. "Are you okay you sort of just zoned out or something."

"Yeah I was just thinking about my parents." She said slowly. "Like what if they actually kicked me out, where would I go?" She asked. "I have no one else to go with."

"You have me, I'm sure my parents would let you come and stay. I can explain the situation and it would mean you could see how muggles live." Hermione suggested.

"You know you're the best Mione." She responded hugging her again. "Could you ask your parents because then I can just tell mine and maybe it'll be fine." She said hopefully.

"Yeah I can, can I borrow your owl for it." She asked. Y/n nodded in response. "Let's go down to the common room Harry and Ron are waiting and you probably didn't do any holiday homework so you guys can do that while I write the letter." She added grabbing a piece of parchment and a quill and opening the dormitory door walking out.

"Hey, I did my homework. The other two definitely didn't though, I'll help them do it." Y/n said as they walked down the spiral staircase. Hermione chuckled at this she knew just how to cheer Y/n up after only knowing for 7 months.

They arrived at the bottom of the staircase to Harry and Ron sitting with a stack of books sitting in front of them and two long pieces of parchment. The parchment barely had anything written on it, just their names and the date.

"Need help." Y/n said sitting down between Harry and Ron. "I won't do it for them Mione." She added as Hermione gave her a look and sat down across from them.

"So what are we working on?" She asked the two boys.

"Potions. But I have to go now, Quidditch Practice." Harry said getting up and leaving.
