Part Twenty One, Marrying Bill, Birthing Danny

Chapter Thirty Four
    Bill did not tell Mary that he had actually met with Dan. Because he and Dan both agreed not to stress her during her pregnancy. Dan explained to Bill that he did not mean to hurt Mary. He was young and naive. When he told his family about Mary, it was made clear to him by the Alpha and by his father that a human could never be accepted into the pack. The Alpha forbid him to go back into the world of humans. Because humans are a danger to the pack's very existence and no exceptions could ever be made. Dan was later made to choose an acceptable mate from among the girls in the pack. He had no idea Mary was pregnant. Together, Dan and I met with the Alpha and the elders of the pack. They all agreed that the child would be accepted into the pack, but not the mother. Dan's mate was a very sweet girl who said they would be happy to raise the baby as their own. So I gave Dan my number and the Alpha gave me his number. Dan's father agreed to come with Dan and his mate to pick up the child as soon as it was born. For now Bill had to act like he knew nothing about Dan's whereabouts.

    Bill and their parents attended Mary's graduation. Bill said it would be best to tell the parents most of the truth. That Mary had gotten pregnant but the father was not able to marry her because he was married to someone else. But that Mary would be handing custody of the child over to the father if he and his wife wished to raise it. As Mary was very young and wanted to attend college. But that they were still trying to locate the father. The parents agreed to stay over for a week so Bill and Mary could do some searching for the father in Nevada where Bill said the father was from. Actually, Bill hoped to talk Mary into marrying him before she learned the truth and hated him for lying to her.

     Bill told Mary he had a tip and they should head to Las Vegas to inquire about Dan.

    Mary could not picture Dan in Las Vegas but decided a vacation would be nice. So off they went to Vegas.

    They attended many shows and had a great time together. At weeks end, Bill asked Mary to marry him. She said yes and they got secretly married. Thinking it best not to tell their parents.

Chapter Thirty Five
    In August when Bill felt the time was right, he told Mary the truth about Dan.

    "I didn't want to cause you any undue stress, Mary but you needed to know. That's why I haven't gotten anything for the baby but the necessities to send home with him. I can't even imagine how hard it must be to carry a baby for nine months and have to give it away. But the elders of Dan's pack said that their genes are dominate over that of a human and that the child will surely be a werewolf. He can never live in the world of humans. I'm so sorry, Mary. Can you forgive me?"

    "I love you, Bill and I understand why you waited to tell me.

How was Danny?"

    "He seemed real good, Mary. He's mated with a real sweet girl who wants to raise the baby as their own." It'll be fine, Mary, you can go to college if you want or just stay home and have babies. I don't care. I love you, Mary and someday you and I will have babies of our own. We can even move away from here, someplace warmer if you like. All I want is for you to be happy."

    "You make me happy, Bill. As long as we are together, we can get through anything."

    Bill hired a mid wife who lived near by to deliver the baby.

    The weeks went by and Mary went into labor. Bill called the midwife and the Alpha of Dan's pack to let them know little Danny was about to come into the world.

    It was a long labor lasting two days, off and on. The midwife said first babies take a while and not to be concerned. All is going well. I spent my time sitting by my wife holding her hand and reassuring her of my love and devotion.

    Finally little Danny made his entrance into the world. He was nine pounds of pure boy. Mary said he looks just like his father, Dan. I had to agree, same hair color, same piercing blue eyes.

    Later that evening there was a knock on the door. Mary was breast feeding baby Dan when his father and grand-father came to pay a visit. I escorted Dan into Mary's room and left the two of them alone while I went out to talk to grampa.

    "Hello Mary, remember me?"

    " Danny, I will carry you in my heart till the day I die."

    "I'm so sorry, Mary. I was young and stupid. I had no idea the pack members would totally reject you and refuse to let me return or even call you. I feel horrible about that. I loved you so much Mary. You've got to believe that. "

    "I do believe that, Dan. Would you like to hold your son?"

     Danny reached down and detached his son from Mary's breast to hold him and gaze down at his little face.

    "He's beautiful, Mary. You did real good."

    "We did real good, Danny. Our love made this precious little baby. Nobody can ever take that away from us. We will go on as one in the body of our little boy."

    "Mary, do you want to keep him until he is off the breast?"

    "Would you mind, Danny?"

    "Of course not. I want you to meet my mate, Sarah also. She stayed back this trip. Because she didn't know how you would feel about her."

    "Bill said she is a real sweet girl and of course I want to meet the mother of my child."
    Bill and grampa came into the room. Dan handed little Danny over to grampa.
    Everyone had tears in their eyes.
    "Bill, Dan said maybe I should keep the baby until it is weaned from my breasts. What do you say?"
    "I think that would be best for the mother and the child. Dan, you and your father, and your mate are welcome to visit any time. We have guest bedrooms if you wish to stay over at any time."

    "Thank you, Bill, that's very generous of you."

    "Why don't you stay over tonight. "

    "We thank you. But we told our wives we'd be right back. Maybe next time."

    "Next time it is then"
