Forest Fire

Fire spreads through the viridescent trees,
Setting every branch aflame,
Eating away like a disease,
Defying even the thought of being tame

The creature flees from the ribs of its tree,
As the blaze invades the home it's made,
Leaving behind ash and debris,
Now only a distant memory that too will fade

The sky is filled with a fiery hue,
The air contaminated with poisonous fume,
It was a sickening view,
As each evergreen built its own tomb

I am the fire that burns within,
I am the forest that hides from the sun,
I am the bystander with chills on her skin,
I am nothing yet everything in one
