"Lizzy! Get up and ready for school or you'll miss the bus" my mom shouted from the other room. I lazily rose from my bed, dreading the school day ahead. Ever since we had read the Outsiders, I had been made fun of for having a crush on Dallas Winston-Dally, it had even caused some fights between me and my friends.

I went into the bathroom to get ready for school. As I washed my blonde hair, even as I did this I couldn't get Dally out of my mind. I put on my makeup and I saw my jean jacket. I had gotten my jean jacket because of the Outsiders, it reminded me of them. I threw it on, leaving it unbuttoned with a plain black t-shirt underneath. I threw my backpack over my shoulder and went out the door. The crisp morning breeze hit my face as I started walking to the end of the driveway to get on the bus.

When the bus screamed to a stop I got on and walked to the back of the bus and sat down next to one of my best friends, jasmine (this isn't her name, but she doesn't want me to share her name) I smiled at her and she smiled back. I then said "I made another Dally edit" and I held out an earbud to her. She sighed and said "Lizzy, I don't want to see it, it's been, what, three months since we read it, you need to move on." I was sick of people telling me this, every time I brought it up, my friends would act annoyed, Jasmine is better than most though, she didn't approve of me liking Dally, but at least she didn't bully me, or make mean jokes or remarks. I eventually answered "please Jasmine, I need a safe space to talk about this without being made fun of."

She said "fine, but just one video." I played the edit of Dally I had made, it was only about sixteen seconds. When it ended she took out the earbud and said "Lizzy, why do you even like him, he's so ugly." She just didn't understand, first of all, he is extremely hot, and second, I didn't like him for his looks, I didn't even know what the characters in the movie looked like until I had finished reading the book. I answered "no he's not, he is the hottest guy ever, and I don't just like him for his looks, I like him for his personality." She laughed a little and said "Lizzy, he's a criminal." I then said "there's more to him than that, he's just misunderstood."

We soon arrived at school, the bus screeched to a halt and we all started pouring out. I was nervous because one of my 'friends' was saying some really mean things because she thought me having a crush on Dally is annoying. I looked at Jasmine and she seemed to understand this from the look in my blue eyes. "Don't worry about her, kate (not her real name, hidden for her privacy) can say some really mean things." I sighed and nodded.

The bell rang and we all started heading to our classes. As the teacher droned on about something in geometry, my mind started to wander to the Outsiders. I kept thinking about what it would be like if I could be with them m, instead of my normal, boring life. I pictured what Dally would look like. I pictured him blazing blue eyes, that contained the hate of the entire world, and his hair that was so blonde it was almost white, and his elfish face and pointed chin, and his high cheekbones. I couldn't help but love him, I don't care if he's a 'bad person' or a criminal, all I saw was a misunderstood person like me.

When the bell went off, I got up and went to social studies, I sat down at my desk, but before I could start daydreaming, the teacher gave us are directions, we were writing a page on, if we could go back in time, what time would we go back to and why. I turned to look at Jasmine, and smiled, already having an idea circulating in my head, and told her "I'm going back to 1965" she rolled her eyes and we both started writing our papers. I was writing mine on meeting S.E Hinton, the author of the Outsiders, I couldn't actually meet the Outsiders, since they were never actually real, but my mind still wandered to if I could meet them.

After a little while the girl next to me, Linda (not her actual name, hiding her privacy, even though she doesn't deserve it) scoffed and said "Let me guess Lizzy, you're writing about whenever that book took place." I looked down and nodded. She scoffed again and said "oh my god Lizzy, this is so stupid." I just pretended like I didn't hear her and continue writing.

I sat down at my lunch table and started talking about how my cousin was getting me a saint Christopher, a necklace like Dally's for my graduation present. Then Kate said "you put that on and I'll rip it off your neck" her voice was very serious. I whispered to Jasmine "she touches my necklace and she's getting bitch slapped." Jasmine nodded in understanding and said "she'll get what's coming to her." I wished I could be anywhere but there, preferably Tulsa Oklahoma in 1965.

The school day finally ended, I got into my dads car and started driving home, when I got there I crashed down on my bed and started watching Outsiders edits on my phone, I kept wishing I could be there, in the book with them, and that Dally wouldn't die. I wished I didn't have to live this dull life where I was shunned and bullied for liking Dally, most of my friends put up with me, and got along with me, but they didn't understand me like I knew Dally could, always putting on a show, afraid of our true selves.

As I was thinking through the events of the day, I pulled my jean jacket tighter, I liked to pretend that Dally had stolen it for me, on hard days I pretended he was holding me in his arms and saying "don't worry Doll, anyone hurts you I'll beat the tar out of um." In his thick New York accent.

I start to fall asleep pretending I'm in Dally's arms. I have a ton of funny dreams and a not really restful sleep. When I wake up in the morning, I'm laying on a park bench, somehow I was changed into a dress that looked like it was from the 1960's

A/N: Sorry, I know this might have started a little slow but it's going to be getting more interesting in the next chapter.
