When Isabelle woke up the next day, Robby was no longer in bed with her. She got up and showered. There was school today, but she wasn't feeling up to it, so she decided to skip it. When she entered the kitchen, she noticed a plate full of eggs and pancakes set out for her. A small note was placed beside a glass of orange juice. She picked up the note.

Went to work. Enjoy your breakfast. I'll be back by the time you finish school. - Robby

Placing the note down, she ate the food. She decided to visit Miguel while Robby worked. She was worried about him and just wanted to be there for him. She quickly rushed to get ready to drive over to his apartment complex.

Once she arrived at his apartment complex, she had to guess which apartment was his. Miguel wasn't answering her texts, and she started to get worried about him. She eventually just knocked on one of the first-floor apartments. A few seconds went by. She heard people inside arguing in Spanish before an old lady answered the door.

"Hello. Why are you here?"

"Ay, mama. You can't answer the door so rudely," a voice from inside shouted.

Isabelle cringed before stating softly, "Um. I'm sorry. I'm looking for Miguel, Miguel Diaz."

Even though she spoke softly, Miguel heard her voice and immediately perked up.

"Isabelle! Come in!"

His grandmother gestured for her to come in. The second she stepped through the door, Isabelle took off her shoes and placed them on the side. Her actions caused Yaya and Carmen to smile. They already liked this girl.

"Hola Senora Diaz y Senorita Diaz. Ojala no estoy interrumpiendo su dia." Isabelle shyly said.

Miguel was surprised by her ability to speak Spanish. "You speak Spanish?" He questioned as he motioned for her to sit beside him on the couch.

Isabelle scoffed as she sat down, "Of course, I'm half Colombian. My mom taught me how to speak Spanish. I try to speak it a lot, so I'm not out of practice."

Carmen jumped into the conversation, "Does your mother not speak with you in Spanish anymore?"

Isabelle fidgeted with her fingers and looked at the ground, "Um, no. My mom actually passed away in a car accident when I was 10."

"Im so sorry. I didn't know–"

"No. It's okay. I like talking about her; she was an amazing mom," Isabelle interrupted Miguel before he started to ramble. She smiled as she continued, "Her name was Yeimy, Yeimy Montoya. She was an amazing singer. That's actually how my parents met. She was just starting her career as a singer. She was hired to sing at a private corporate party. She used to tell me they locked eyes across the room, and the rest was history."

Carmen smiled at Isabelle, "And your father? How's he?"

Isabelle tensed slightly before replying, "He took it hard, very hard. But he's doing great now. His business is booming, so he's richer than ever." she lets out a tense, awkward laugh. "He's my dad, so yeah, he's perfect."

Miguel, noticing her demeanor change, changed the subject. "Mama, I know you said no Karate, but can I at least hang out with Isabelle?"

Carmen sighed, "OK, Miggy, go ahead."

Miguel smiled as he grabbed Isabelle's hand to drag her out of the apartment, almost dragging her out without shoes on. Once she was properly equipped for the outside, they left. Miguel insisted that they would wait for Johny to come out of his apartment so they could formulate a plan for him to continue karate.
