"Welcome Y/N! We are delighted to have you here in our town!" Mayor Lewis welcomed me as I got down from the bus
"Mayor....Lewis?" Y/N called out unsure if it was him or not
"Thats right kid, I'm Mayor Lewis! Your grandfather has told me many things about you" Mayor Lewis beamed
"I hope its nothing bad about me" Y/N chuckled
"No, no of course not! He always boasted of his grandaughther and im glad I finally get to meet you in person. Now come, i'll show you to the farm"
Mayor Lewis guided Y/N toward the farm and passed by a few houses and Y/N also greeted one or two other residents there
"Uhh....well there it is the farm. The house is safe to live in....it used to be the best back in the days..." Mayor Lewis laughed akwardly.
"This...is the house?" Y/N looked at the condition it was in, some of the wooden floors has worn out and even the roof looked like it could collapse at any given moment.
Just then another person appeared, it was a lady with brunette hair
"Pleasure to meet you Y/N! Im robin, the local carpenter of Pelican Town. If you need any- well you most definetly need to rework the house" Robin looked at the house's horrendous condition
"Now, now it isn't that bad...just a bit patching up and it will be as good as new!" Mayor Lewis assured
Robin and Y/N threw each other a 'is he serious' look as Mayor Lewis blabbered on about how this place used to be
"Well then Y/N I'll let you get settled in for the day...Oh! And don't forget to introduce yourself to the others!" Mayor Lewis walked off as well as Robin
"So much for a fresh start...." Y/N looks towards the house and sighed
Y/N dusted off the dust over the furnitures and did a simple spring cleaning for the day as she was still tired from the long drive.
Y/N plopped onto the bed completely exhausted and fell asleep almost immediately.
About an hour later, there was a knock on the door. Y/N got up to see who it was but only saw bags of seeds in front of the door as well as a piece of note
It read:
"As a welcome gift to the town, I'm giving you these seeds to help you get started on your farm
- Mayor Lewis"
Y/N picked up the seeds and placed them on the table as she read up about farms and how to farm as a beginner
It took a couple of hours but Y/N had managed to plant her first batch of crops.
Feeling satisfied, she went back into her house and slept for the night.
Y/N woke up at 6 in the morning, feeling refreshed as she hears the birds chirping outside.
She got off of bed and started making herself some breakfast before taking a shower
"A good cup of coffee is just what i need right now" Y/N makes herself one and finishes her breakfast, eager to move on with her day
"Farming this early in the morning.....hah....is truly what i dont need right now..." Y/N watered the crops
An hour later Y/N finished watering and began cleaning out the surrounding area. She spotted a collapse building and some sort of cave?
"There we go...all done for the day" Y/N dropped off her crops in the box and walked towards the town centre.
"It really is peaceful here" She sighed peacefully.
*BUMP*
"HEY! Watch it!" A blonde lady shouted, dusting off her skirt
"I am so sorry miss!" Y/N apologized, slightly bowing, not wanting to meet eye to eye
"....Tch, whatever" Hearing the footsteps fade away, Y/N raised her head again seeing the back of the blonde lady
Y/N had hoped she hadn't upsetted a resident here this early on. She walked towards 'Pierre's store' and met a girl with purple hair named Abigail
"Oh hey! You're the new farmer" The purple head called out with a smile
"Yes, i'm Y/N. You are...?"
"Call me Abigail, my dad runs this store" Abigail smiled
Abigail introduced Y/N to her dad, Pierre. Pierre immediately began showing off the seeds he had on sale that day and even offered a few as a welcoming gift.
"Thank you Mr.Pierre for the seeds" Y/N held onto the seeds gratefully.
"Don't worry about it, it's nice to see a new face after so long" Pierre said extending a warm smile
Everyone here seems so nice. Y/N felt her heart flutter at their kindness. They spent a good hour talking to each other about Pelican Town and the residents here.
"I'll be off then Mr. Pierre, Abigail" Y/N waved goodbye and left the store.
Y/N wondered where she should head towards next. As she walked along the trails she saw a guy with a football in his hand.
He hadn't seem to notice Y/N looking at him until she moved closer.
"Excuse me?" Y/N slowly approached him slowly
"Huh you're the new girl aren't you? Good to see you I'm Alex" He grinned, tossing the football up in the air absent mindedly.
"Nice to meet you Alex, I'm Y/N" Y/N extended her hand out to which Alex shook briefly
"Yeah i've heard, you're the new farmer girl everyone's been dying to see" He chuckled to himself
"Well then, I'll see you around, Alex?"
"Sure thing" Alex smirked as he continued tossing his football.
Y/N continued walking until she heard ruckus coming from nearby. She slowly approached the source and saw an old man scolding a lady
"I would have gotten it myself young lady" the old man said grumpily
"I'm sorry i just wanted to lend a hand Mr. George.." the lady replied, feeling a little guilty
Y/N was not aware that she was almost standing directly in front of them. The lady turned around and saw Y/N watching them.
"...How long have you been there miss...?" The lady asked as George squinted his eyes towards Y/N
"I didn't mean to pry, I just happened to be walking by...." Y/N replied awkwardly and continued
"But what you did was a kind thing to do miss...." Y/N reassured the sad lady who now gave her a small smile in return
".....I apologize for being rude to you miss, being old changes people" He let go of his pride and hung his head low
"That's alright Mr. George" the lady beamed
George had left and went back into the house, leaving the lady and Y/N alone outside.
"Thank you for just now, I'm Penny and you must be....Y/N?" She extended her hand out
"Its nice to meet you Penny!" Y/N shook her hand back
About 4 hours had passed, with Y/N almost meeting all of the residents. She met those who were almost the same age as her, Sebastian, Alex, Sam, Shane, Abigail and they said there were another two more I had yet to meet who were sisters
As they day grew darker, Y/N walked back to her house enjoying the soft sounds of crickets in the background.
