Saiki opened his eyes slowly, careful for the bright sun that peered through his window. The first things his eyes recognized was a pair of icy blue eyes that were staring into his own. When he realized whose they were, he shot up from where he laid, clenching his eyes shut.

'Damn it! I knew I should've kept my glasses on—'

"Don't worry," the brunette's voice soothed, "It's just me. Lay back down."

'What? How is he not stone by now?'

He opened his eyes once more, slowly laying back down. They stared at each other, Saiki amazed as to how Asher was still bone and flesh. Were is powers not working? Was the guy really just resistant to some of his powers? He didn't understand.

"I never realized how pretty your eyes are, Kusuo," the brunette hummed softly, carefully brushing a few strands of hair out of his face. Saiki's face dusted red, looking off to the side. Too close...

"Cat's got your tongue?" Asher teased him. Reluctantly, the brunette slowly sat up, the blankets sliding off of him to reveal his abdomen. He still wore the bandages from the night before, and they were holding up pretty well.

He raised his arms, groaning as he stretched and shook away the sleepiness from his bones. "C'mon, Kusuo. Go ahead and get ready, I'll make breakfast."

"But you're still injured," his eyebrows flickered upward when he felt the vibration of his throat while speaking. "My parents should already be downstairs making food."

Asher shook his head. "I already checked, and they aren't here. Don't worry so much, and start getting dressed." He exited the room.

Saiki stood from the bed as well, grabbing an outfit before heading to the bathroom. He stared at himself in the mirror for a moment, his natural face in place. He turned from left to right, looking at his hands, feet, every inch of skin he could spot on himself. He was still Saiki.

'Something weird is going on. Are my powers out-of-whack today..?'

Eventually, Saiki decided to ignored it for the meantime, finishing what he had to do in the bathroom and going to the kitchen. Somehow, Asher was already finished making the two of them breakfast, setting two plates down before sitting down in front of Saiki. The brunette hadn't been kidding, his parents really weren't there. That was strange...

"Sorry if it's too much, I wasn't sure how much to give you," the brunette glanced at Saiki's plate before digging into his own.

"It's fine."

The two ate in silence, which Asher was seemingly completely fine with. However, Saiki felt on-edge. Everything felt abnormal... different. Out of place. Maybe not even real— but that couldn't be possible. Maybe his powers really were just malfunctioning or something. He was glad he was more limited than he was before, so he didn't want to think about it much. He'll speak with Kusuke about it later.
