It was quickly approaching the end of the year and we had most things ready for the wedding. Since Phoenix was born at midnight on January 1st, we couldn't pick new years to have our wedding.
We decided we did want a winter wedding, so we decided to go with January 28. 28 was a significant number for us, especially me. When I played footie that was the number on my jersey. I even have the number tattooed on my fingers.
Everyone was settling in well at the new place which was in Dubai on a small private island that only the 10 of us lived on. The house was big enough for both of us and we all had our own space. Since it didn't snow in Dubai, we had a plan to go back to the London and get married there in Holmes Chapel, by Harry's Bridge.
It was called 'Harry's Bridge' because that's where he had his first kiss. However, I will be his last first kiss there. It just had so much sentimental significance to him, and to be at the place where he grew up- I thought it would be a beautiful way to get married to each other.
Today was the day we were going shopping for our suits. We kinda had an idea about the tuxes and them matching the blue-green vibe and we were excited. We decided to go alone so it would be a surprise to his mum and our sisters and Phoenix.
We got onto the boat that would take us to the mainland and we decided to sit on the front of it since it would be a few hours until we got there. I laid down and pulled Harry onto my chest and rubbed his back gently.
I could tell there was something on Harry's mind when his eyes wondered everywhere but to me. "Hey love? Everything alright?" I asked and he sat up. "I-I" was all he said. "Are you second guessing the wedding?" I asked him.
"What? Of course not Lou! I love you! It's just- I'm worried that's all. Not about the wedding, but the future- our future as a family of 3- well 4." He said and I looked at him so confused.
"Are you?" I asked, tilting my head. "Yes" he said as he looked down. I had no idea what to feel at this moment. I was happy, but I was also petrified at the thought of going through what we did already with Phoenix. I just looked at him as I sipped my beer.
"Say something Lou. Please" he said and I smiled a bit. "What do you think about it love? If you're not ready for another one just yet we could.." I started but he cut me off.
"No! Absolutely Not! I'm not killing a child Lou!" He said and I rolled my eyes. "I was not going to suggest that- but can we please talk about something else-" I said.
It was quiet for a while after that as we both watched the water and drank our drinks. Harry ended up falling asleep on my chest and all I could do was worry. Worry about Jeff and Nick, Naomi and now Harry and the unborn child.
I laid down and closed my eyes as the hot rays of sun filled my skin and body with warmth. I guess I must have dozed off at some point because I was awoken by Harry shaking me.
"Hey Lou? We're here love. Come on" he said gently. I rubbed my eyes and stretched before sitting up and remembering what was happening. Wedding suits, right.
We walked off the boat and held hands as we walked into the wedding boutique. It was glamorous and huge. They had wedding dresses on one side and suits on the other. Harry's eyes lit up when he saw all the beautiful white dresses and I smiled.
"Come along love, suits are this way" I said leading him to the suit section. We walked over and was immediately greeted by a man who was working there. "Hello Gentleman, did you need any help today?" He asked and I smiled. "Actually that would be great. We are looking for suits for our wedding" I said and looked at Harry who was looking down.
"First of all, congratulations on the engagement and soon to be wedding. Secondly, what colours were you thinking?" He asked.
"Blue and green. Like a baby blue and vibrant green. Like his eyes." I said looking at Harry who had looked up, blushing. "Okay if you gentlemen would follow me, we will get started."
We spent an hour trying on suits and I could tell something was off with Harry. He wasn't liking any of them and his excitement declined. When the man went back to get a different size, I took that opportunity to talk to him privately.
"Hey Haz? Is everything okay love? You don't seem happy love." I asked, lifting him chin to look him in his eyes. "I am happy, well um" he sighed and covered his face.
I pulled him in for a hug and rubbed his back. " you can tell me Haz." I reassured him. "I just- I want-" he started to say. "You want to wear a dress don't you love?" I asked and he lowered his hands to look at me.
"H-how did you know?" He asked. "I saw the way you looked at them when we walked in. Love you can wear whatever you want to our wedding. You want a dress? You will wear a dress." I said happily.
His face lit up and he got the biggest smile on his face. "We can go get your dress once we're finished here. Now go change." I said kissing him.
He went to go get dressed back in his normal outfit and sat, watching me get my suit all situated and ordered for the wedding. Once we were done on my side we went over to the dresses and Harry got so excited. A nice lady came over to help us.
I was ordered to sit in a seat with champagne while they went to go look at dresses to show me. The first dress he tried on was a mermaid style fit and flair. He came out and it was absolutely beautiful on him. My jaw dropped and I gasped.
"Love you look absolutely gorgeous in that dress" I said as I walked up to him and spun him around. He smiled but I knew he didn't like it. "Love, do you want to try some more on?" I asked and he nodded. I kissed him before they went back to find another dress.
He tried on a few different dresses but eventually found one that he loved. It looked absolutely gorgeous on him and he was glowing in it. He twirled in it and laughed. I smiled at him as I saw him happy. I wanted him to be happy, he's been through so much and he deserves to be happy.
Once we paid for the dress and alternating that it needed done, we walked out of the store holding hands. "I can't believe I get to marry the love of my life who will be wearing an absolutely beautiful dress." I said as I smiled at him.
"Thank you Lou. You don't know how happy this makes me-" he said starting to tear up. I stopped walking and pulling him into my chest. "I know love. I know." I cooed as I rubbed his back.
We stood there for a few moments until he pulled away, his stomach growling. "Did you want to get some lunch love? Or some snacks and we can head back?" I asked.
He rested his head on my chest and looked at me. "We can grab a few snacks. It will be closer to dinner when we get back anyway and I don't want mum complaining that I don't eat-" he chuckled.
I kissed his forehead before we walked into a small shop which had a dozen different kinds of pastries. We picked a few and got some water before we headed back towards the dock and onto the boat.
We boarded the boat and went back to the front to lay down. Harry took off his shirt and I held in a moan as I looked at him. He took a sip of his water and smirked. He knew exactly what he was doing and I loved it.
We talked and just enjoyed each other's company on our way back to the island. We shared many laughs and ideas on where we should go for our hunnymoon after the wedding.
Once we got halfway back there was a photo message from an anonymous person sent to my phone. I opened it up to see a photo of me and Harry in the bridal shop we were just at.
