Rabie and his two children returned from Tunisia, their family members were harassing them about the medical
diagnosis.
«Daddy! Welcome back home » said Rahik running towards her dad.
« Hello everybody » said Rabie when hugging Rahik.
« Welcome home »welcomed them Rawda in front of the kitchen's door happy to have them back.
« Amel, how was your conference? » said Rawya after kissing her Dad.
« It was good, I enjoyed every moment of it » said Amel coldly pensive and concerned.
« Are you sure? You seem disappointed..!! you are hiding something from us » wondered Riad.
« She was amazing at the conference, she even had her own presentation to do, I am proud of her. You should all be proud of your sister. A gem » replied Rabie after putting his right hand on the left shoulder of Amel.
« She may be tired from travelling that is all.Let her breath. Welcome back home » said Rawda cheerfully.
« Probably yes, we will talk about it later then » said Rawya.
« So, are we going to stay here? Let's go inside. I brought to each one of you a present» said Rabie after showing his suit luggage in the hallway.
« Yaaay! » said Rahik and Hiba happily.
Hiding the truth or telling everybody. Hiding it? But for how long? As they say, "the truth always comes out in the end" Are the symptoms going to take long to be apparent in my Dad? Are they going to be painful? And a lot of other questions crossed my mind several times. I never saw my Dad worry a minute about his condition. I felt that I couldn't be happy anymore. Faking laughter and walking around acting as if nothing was really happening makes me sick. I spent the whole afternoon looking for a solution for my Dad.
Websites, articles, hospitals, social media, I surfed the internet like never before.
« Amel, how was your conference? » said Rawda who insisted again.... «Amel, do you hear me!» said Rawda
« Sorry mom, it was great...thanks » replied Amel after pushing a sigh, as if she were carrying a heavy burden.
« Only great?! What is wrong?! It does not seem that great » said Rawda worried about her.
« Can we speak about it later mom, please? » asked Amel while typing on her computer with an annoyed look.
« Okay, but can you tell me what is wrong. I feel that you are not the same!! And your father is hiding something from me » said Rawda disturbed, thinking that something might have happened to her, or to her father.
« ... »
« Okay, I understand your silence, we will talk later, » said Rawda.
« Amel, tell me, how was it? » said Rawya after coming in suddenly.
« You will speak with her later Rawya, come on » replied Rawda to Rawya.
« Why? Something's wrong? » asked Rawya her mother.
« Come on, everything is okay, she just needs to rest from her journey, » said Rawda.
I was so absorbed by my research that I forgot about everything. I stopped feeling anything else around me. Everything was gloomy and I could not concentrate on anything else but my research about the disease, any potential existing cure or any address of a specialized clinic. Hours and hours spent on my laptop. Tiredness? I could not feel anything. My mind was so captivated by the research, that everything else seemed unimportant to me.
