The morning had started off so calmly, now the Lee family sitting down in the living room together. Yet the peace was suddenly shattered by Mr. Lee's barely contained outrage as he glared at the tablet screen in front of him.

His huffs of anger permeated the tense silence hanging over the room. Beside him, his wife sat motionless, while across from them their son Heeseung kept his gaze fixed ahead.

Though Heeseung feigned ignorance, he knew exactly what had sparked his father's fury. The damning photos on the screen, the proof of Heeseung's continued involvement with Sunoo.

"I have told you not to get involved with Mr. Kim's son." Mr. Lee spat angrily through gritted teeth, his eyes burning with frustration while he stared at his silent son.

Heeseung offered no response, long accustomed to his father's tirades over this particular issue. He knew the old man would run out of steam soon enough.

"How long will you take this mere infatuation with his, Son?" Mr. Lee continued scolding, his voice rising as his temper flared. "You are engaged already! You should focus on Yeju rather than getting involved with him."

Heeseung shifted in his seat, remaining silent.

"I can't." he finally responded softly, the simple words sparking his father's anger even further.

"Just why are you doing this?" Mr. Lee demanded. "Do you even know how much it will affect the company if you break off with the Kang's?" The engagement had been meant to solidify a lucrative business contract.

Heeseung scoffed bitterly at the mention of the company, as if business interests were the only things that should dictate his choices.

"If we can't break the contract with the Kang's." Heeseung retorted. "Then, I will break the engagement with Yeju. And if they want to breach the contract, they are more than welcome to."

Mr. Lee slammed his fist down furiously on the table infront of him, making the coffee cups rattle. "You want to end the engagement just because of a boy?"

Looking away indifferently, Heeseung refused to meet his father's enraged stare. He would not back down, not even for the sake of their company.

"You have to break things off with that boy, or there will be consequences." Mr. Lee threatened ominously.

But Heeseung remained resolute. "I'm with Sunoo, whether you approve or not. And nothing you say will ever change that." He stood up abruptly, his mood already ruined, as his father shouted after him.

Storming off, Heeseung's mom knew her son was once again out of his father's control.

Turning angrily to his wife, Mr. Lee snapped in frustration, "Put some sense into your son!"

She regarded him wearily, well aware neither of them could sway their strong-willed son once he had made up his mind. "Let's trust him, honey." she implored, hoping to calm her husband.

Mr. Lee sighed heavily, regretting how he had lost influence over his son long ago. "He is out of our hands. It's all because of you." he accused his wife bitterly. She wisely held her tongue, knowing this was just a fleeting outburst from her husband.

In truth, Mr. Lee could not bring himself to sever ties with the Kim's, no matter Heeseung's choices. Mr. Kim had saved his life countless times over the years; hurting his son would be an unforgivable betrayal.

Though furious at his own son now, even Mr. Lee had to accept that Heeseung charted his own course, for better or worse. The man he had become was through his own determination alone.
