"Time to wake up!" Someone hollered loudly outside.

Weary, Rose'paw couldn't pinpoint who had said that. She kept her eyes shut for a couple more heartbeats. That's her last attempt at a longer night's rest.

Her dream from the night before still bothered her.

'It's just a stupid dream,' She reminded herself.

Night'paw prodded her. "Rose'paw, are you alright?" The she-cat's gentle voice made her stir.

"Hhmp," She mewed in reply. Why did they have to start so damn early?

Rose'paw was a litter of one. She had no siblings, and her mother, Cackle'fire, never seemed to care for her. She was more of something to yell, or bat at; to release her pent-up anger at. That's why Rose'paw stayed away from her — She did not enjoy to be used as some stress-relieving toy.

Her father, Wolf'fang, was better. However, he never struck to high as a father-figure, and focused more on politics and boarder-patrols.

Cackle'fire would often yammer about how he had left them. Rose'paw thought it was for the better. It seemed as though every time the separated pair talked, that always ended in snapping.

Night'paw, on the other paw, was basically as close as she knew she would get to family. The she-cat was like her sibling, and were often referred to being sisters. Although, they looked nothing alike.

"ROSE'PAW!" Mist'paw barreled right into her.

She pushed herself up on her paws. Mist'paw was her other very loud friend, who always managed to be the first one up in the morning. Definitely the most chaotic cat, too.

She whacked her with a sheathed paw. "Rose'paw, Rose'paw, Rose'paw! Hello? Are you dying — Should I get Leopard'dream?"

  "I'm up!" Rose'paw yowled with a light, playful glare. "Star'clan, you're insane,"

"Good." Mist'paw flashed her a grin, and then darted off with a flick of her tail.

Fawn'tooth, her mentor, blinked at Rose'paw with her furrowed, wide doe-like eyes.

"Why were you late for training today?" She asked.

Rose'paw began to rant: "I'm really, really sorry Fawn'tooth! I promise not to make this mistake again — I just had this really, strange, bad dream. Y'know? So basically, there was like this sick tom that I kinda recognized, and—"

Fawn'tooth cut her off, "It's okay, Rose'paw. Since you're pretty good about coming on time, I'll let you off, this time. You don't have to tell me an entire story,"

She let out a breath. Fawn'tooth was usually a pretty good-tempered she-cat. However, she did have her moments. Star'clan, those moments were terrifying.

Like that time she had gotten sidetracked with Mist'paw. She had been tasked with pulling ticks out of the elders. Mist'paw had insisted on coming.

Then Mist'paw had wanted her to come with her to get a drink by the stream. She fell in, and when Fawn'tooth and Tiny'pelt, Mist'paw's mentor, found them, they were soaked.

The both of them got tasked with helping the elders for days.

Fawn'tooth tapped her with her tail, "Rose'paw. You are spacing out again,"

"Sorry," She mumbled quickly; like an instinct.

"Also, stop saying 'sorry'," She added, "Don't act weak, or you'll start believing that you are weak, and then become weak."

"Sor— Yes, Fawn'tooth," She blinked up at her mentor.

She scowled slightly, and then flicked her tail to Rose'paw. She began to trot deeper into Cloud'clan's valley.

"Come on, let's begin your training for the day,"
