Surprisingly, she wasn't too tired from all of the battle-training. If anything, all of the running around got her energized. Strange body. Strange world.
"You're back!" Mist'paw squealed as she darted towards her. She left poor Night'paw in the back.
"I would have guessed that something would have eaten you! —If you hadn't come back, like, soon," She laughed.
Rose'paw scoffed. "Me? Die? Never! I bet a slug could catch you!"
Night'paw started to laugh. An angered expression flashed through Mist'paw's face.
"Excuse you," She hissed.
Night'paw said through a giggle, "You're excused,"
"Bah!" The other two started to dart away from Mist'paw, "Come back here, rats!"
Their laughter towered over the evening's chatter. Some cats scowled at her. Some scowled a little louder when Rose'paw almost crashed into them.
Her paws sent the snow flying in every direction. Sound'kit and Bird'kit watched them with wide, curious eyes.
She remembered the days of not wanting to grow up, and stay a little kit forever. Those days were long gone.
"I almost got you — You speedy mouse-brain," Mist'paw huffed.
Rose'paw bent down in a play bow. She wiggled her eyebrows at her friend. Mist'paw started to dart at her again, but Rose'paw had already ran farther away. She almost crashed into Night'paw.
She taunted her, "Slow poke!"
Dusted'paw and Feather'paw exited the Apprentice Den. Dusted'paw, another cat on the list of cats she 'strongly disliked.' The bratty tom just didn't know how to shut his mouth.
"Hey! Can we join?" Feather'paw meowed to them.
Rose'paw looked to Mist'paw. She silently pleaded for her friend to say 'no'.
She did not want to tell Feather'paw 'no' herself, as it would only be followed by a bunch of 'What did I do?'s and 'I'm sorry!'s. Also a scold from her father for not being decent to Feather'paw.
Mist'paw's eyes landed on Dusted'paw. A small smile peaked at her muzzle. "Sure! Of course you guys can join,"
Dusted'paw smiled back at her, "Thanks, Mist'paw,"
He then looked at Rose'paw, with a devious expression. She responded with a scowl.
Dusted'paw and Mist'paw were very... close.
'Welp, there goes that,' She thought sourly.
"I think I'll take a break," Rose'paw murmured, "I'll be back in a bit,"
Night'paw appeared a tinge weary of the two who had just joined. "Same here,"
Mist'paw pouted at them, "Awh, see you,"
"See you later, Rose'paw!" Feather'paw added as the two left to go grab some fresh-kill.
"Bye!"
