~Rose'paw~

A cool breeze ruffled her coat. Someone nudged her with their snout. She buried her face deeper into her paws; not ready to wake up.

Why was Night'paw waking her up so early in the morning? Why did training have to start so early? Another nudge to her side. Then another one.

With a yawn, she rolled onto her back, and stretched, before opening her eyes. Rose'paw almost jumped back in surprise when she saw Feather'paw.

"Please get up, Fog'star is about to announce our fate." Feather'paw mewed.

"What?" She pushed herself up. She felt like a big, foggy cloud. "What fate?"

Feather'paw blinked at her, before he looked to her flank. A large gash rested there. Suddenly, there was pain. However, even more hurtful than the physical pain, were the scattered memories of last night.

The destroyed camp.

The blood - Everywhere.

Little Brown'kit dead at the entrance of the Medicine Den.

Her dead mentor at her paws.

The 'Distanced'.

Mist'paw yelling at her.

Fawn'tooth biting Feather'paw.

Her father's broken paw.

That one apprentice in Willow'clan.

Walking to, and back from the Gathering with Night'paw in the snow.

Grass'tree slashing her side.

Defending the Nursery.

Then, Night'paw jumping in front of her, when Fallen'sky lunged at her.

Where was she? "Where's Night'paw?" Rose'paw asked.

Feather'paw looked down. "She's gone,"

She looked down, before she repeated to herself, 'Gone.'

Rose'paw had one more question. She already knew the answer, but she had to hear the words from someone else.

"Is she one of them?"

Feather'paw winced. He looked her in the eyes, before he nodded. Rose'paw's heart sank.

"Oh..." was all she could manage to say.

What about their promise? How they had promised to always be together, no matter what.

' "At least we'll always have each other," Night'paw meowed; she had looked Rose'paw straight in the eyes. Soft brown ones meeting with her bright blue ones.

This was right after Mist'paw had ditched them for Dusted'paw. That incident seemed like years ago.

She nodded quickly. "Duh! Since when would we not have each other? I'm sure in like a past life or something that we were actual sisters,"

"Ooh," Night'paw's eyes brightened, "or a cat with two heads! I'd be the left one, and you'd be the right one,"

Rose'paw laughed, "Nah, I'd rather be the left one, and you'd be the right one,"

"No,"

"Yes,"

"No,"

"Yes,"

"No, no,"

"Yes, yes,"

"No, no, no, no,"

"Yes, yes, yes, yes,"
