We're a week into the new semester and talk is starting to go around that a new girl was starting on Monday. Her name is Bella Swan and she's the Chief of Police's daughter. Oh great. That's even better.
Lunch time rolls around and I go sit at our table. The only ones that haven't made it yet are Nathan and Ethan. Everyone finally arrives and the boys are still not here after 10 minutes of waiting on them. Odd. They always arrive at the same time with everyone else.
"Has anyone seen Nathan or Ethan?" I ask. They all shook their heads. Before anything else was said, my phone starts ringing. I look at the screen and it's Ethan calling me. I answer the phone. "Ethan, where - " he cuts me off and there is panic in his voice.
"Mom! Bring the extra cup and get to the boy's bathroom next to Mr. Harris' room! Now!" He then hung up on me. Without looking at any of the others, I grab my bag and I bolt toward the bathroom as fast as I can at a human pace. I hear 3 sets of feet following me. I don't look to see who it is. I know one for sure is Jasper. When I get to the bathroom, I see a kid trying to get in and complaining how the door is locked. When he looks at me, he quits complaining and just stares.
"Beat it!" I hear Jasper say in a harsh tone and the kid runs off. I knock on the bathroom door a couple of times.
"Ethan, it's me. Open the door." As I wait, I look behind me and there stands Jasper, Emmett and Edward. I finally hear Ethan walk toward the door and the door opens. He doesn't open it wide, but wide enough for me, Jasper and Edward to slip through. Emmett said he was going to stand guard at the door to make sure nobody comes in. I walk further into the bathroom and I gasp at the sight before me. Nathan is sitting on the floor, grabbing at his shirt, eyes are pitch black and he's sounding like he can't get any air in his lungs even though he doesn't need it. I rush to give him the cup and he takes it and starts drinking it as fast as he can.
"What the hell happened?"
"Well, you know how all the teachers know about Nathan's 'condition'?"
"Yeah. That's why he's allowed to have his cup in class."
"Well, we have a substitute in Mr. Harris' class today and he took it away." Before he could say anything else, Edward quickly stood up.
"Where are you going?" I ask Edward.
"I'm going to go get that cup. Continue telling her what happened Ethan." Edward then walked out the door and toward the classroom.
"Anyways, we tried to explain to him why he needs it but he wouldn't listen. I tried to help Nathan get through the classroom, but then the teacher told us that we were blood sampling today." I started cussing underneath my breath. I hear the door open back up and Edward comes back in with the cup. He hands it to Nathan and he starts to drink on that one also.
"Nathan tried telling him that he gets sick at the sight of blood and will faint, but he didn't listen. He told Nathan that he had to stay in the classroom and just because he was with the Cullens doesn't mean he can get away with things." I can see Jasper and Edward start to get mad at the teacher.
"When we could start smelling the blood, his eyes turned pitch black and was trying really hard not to lose control. I had to act quick so I just told him to faint. He did and now we're here. The teacher tried to stop us, but I ignored him and also said a few choice words to him." It was silent and Ethan could tell how livid I was.
"I'm sorry mom," Nathan says. "I swore I thought I was doing better." I look at him and my eyes soften.
"It's not your fault sweetheart. The teacher shouldn't have done what he did. This could've all been avoided." I laid my hand on his cheek and I could see that he was doing better.
