And it just don't make sense to me
I really don't know
Why you stick right next to me
Wherever I go

"Mr. Berkshire, Ms. Vaughneton, the library closes in ten minutes."

Tatum looked up and over to the librarian's desk. "Okay, sorry Madam. We'll be leaving in a moment."

"Alright." She nodded promptly.

I shook my head at Tatum who had a very sly smirk on her lips, her eyes wild. "No. Whatever you're thinking about, no. You're going to get us in trouble."

"Shhh." She whispered, smiling wider as she slid her school books and pens back into her bag. "It's fine."

I stood up cautiously, taking my bag off the back of my chair and grabbing her robes from the back of hers then holding my hand out for her bag. "Let me take your bag."

"No." She stood up after me, pushing in her chair. "It's okay." She grabbed my upper arm and started walking both of us to the door. "Goodnight, Madam Pince."

"Goodnight, dears." The librarian mumbled, not looking up from the muggle computer they allowed for her to log books.

We continued to walk out of the library, standing outside as I closed the door behind us.

"You left your bag inside?" I furrowed my eyebrows, looking back behind us and then at her.

"Mhm." She nodded gently, moving us slightly further down the hall. "Give it a minute or two."

I followed her, watching intently while she absentmindedly twisted the fabric of my shirt between her fingers lightly.

A moment later the library door opened, and Madam Pince walked out and locked up behind her.

Tatum started off towards her like she'd been walking that way all along, while I went willingly behind her. "Madam Pince, I forgot my bag inside. Do you mind if I run in and get it?"

Madam Pince passed her the keys with a sigh. "Please, just lock it behind you, Ms Vaughneton. Leave the keys in the box."

"Yes Ma'am, thank you so much." Tatum smiled at her politely, sneaking back into the library as the librarian walked away for the night.

I laughed quietly, stepping in behind her, and going to the side so she could shut the doors after us. "You left your bag inside," I murmured in a sudden understanding.

"And that is one of the many reasons to get good grades and return all of your library books on time." She took a quick bow.

I swallowed hard and tried to suppress the stupid smile trying to come back to my face.

She grabbed her bag from the chair before she could forget.

We both looked over at one of the large windows by the desks, lighting cracking through the sky, lighting it up for a quick half second before leaving everything dark again.

We waited in a knowing silence, and then the sound of heavy rain falling mixed with a loud booming thunder flooded the room, the pitter-patter sound of the rain echoing from the outside and around to the walls inside.
