I asked about your day,
you answered it was fine.
It wasn't the answer I was looking forward for.
I wanted you to at least
tell me how you spent it.
I wanted to hear and empathize
with the emotions you felt.
I wanted to dive into your thoughts,
to connect with you,
to share your moments,
your struggles.
But with the nonchalant reply,
how was I supposed to react?
I am going out of my way
to learn about you,
to share a deepened bond with you,
to empathize with you,
to connect with you.
Yet,
how could I do so
when we're not on the same boat?
You are the captain with your own,
while I was the co-captain of ours.
