The riders couldn't understand it. Why was Zane not just fixed already? His body was fine and fixed already, but according to Zane his metal brain thing got damaged or something and they needed to wait for Zane to internally fix it.

"Okay well while the metal man does that," Snot-lout said carelessly making the ninja glare at him especially Zane's boyfriends.

"Why isn't Kai speaking? The dude has made no sounds and we still can't even hear his heartbeat," Snot-lout points out.

"Yeah dude I agree with my blood brother. I know being silent is a ninja thing, but it is seriously creepy," Ruff stated.

Kai huffs and rolls his eyes at this opening his mouth and showing his tongue to all of them.

There, very morbidly clear, was a symbol on Kai's tongue etched in their in a dark purple almost tattooed ink.

"Silent?" Nya asks translating the Ninjago symbol for what the symbol meant.

"Uh Pix? Got anything for the silent symbol tattooed on someone's tongue?" Lloyd asks unsure.

"And where can I get one? I'd love a tattoo of Belch on my tongue so then it looks like I got a dragon in my mouth," Tuff declares excited.

Pixel looks for some data before she found something pulling it up on the screen revealing an old hand drawn image of a woman with her tongue being held by a sorcerer looking person.

"The curse of silence. A relatively simple, but effective ancient dark curse. Any victim of the curse has the mark of silence etched into their tongue and cannot make any sound. Not just speaking, but all manner. To quote the textbooks "those who have pride in their voice will now have no choice but to become a silent shadow." Pixel explains over the monitors.

Jay grabbed Kai's face staring him down. "Kai, babe, did you sell your voice to a sea witch?" Kai pushes Jay out of his face and shook his head with an annoyed expression.

"So when you say Kai can't make any sounds at all?" Fish-legs clarifies. To prove a point Kai picked up a metal coffee cup and dropped it against the metal work bench. It landed and while everyone was prepared for it to make a sound it didn't. No loud bang of metal clashing against metal. Nothing.

"Is there a cure?" Lloyd and Hiccup asks in sync making them glance at each other.

"Yes. All that is required is blood from the tongue of the person who cursed Kai in the first place. Even the smallest drop onto the symbol will restore Kai's ability to make sound instantly," Pixel answers.

"Kai do you know who cursed you? Did you see their face?" Nya asks. Kai nodded his head. "Who was it? Because I swear on the gods I will bring their entire tongue to you," Snot-lout promises his friend who smiles grateful.

Kai however couldn't say who it was, but does his best to lip sync it.

Thankfully Tuff was still here.

"He says the Quiet One," Tuff translates. "You know I have a feeling this curse is pretty targeted," Ruff said as everyone glances at each other.

"Kai do you know who the quiet one is?" Lloyd asks. Kai makes a so so gesture with his hands. "Do you know their real name?" Hiccup clarified it to a yes or no question. Kai shook his head to indicate no.

"But if you saw them could you point them out?" Lloyd asked and Kai nods his head.

"Well after what just happened the Quiet One is surely going to be hunting us themselves. We need to hide for now since Zane's in no position to fight, I don't even want to think what the Mask of Deception would do to the dragons, and we now have a baby on board," Lloyd said. At the mention of the baby Kai sat up and makes the rocking motion in his hands. "Don't worry Firefly we got the baby in our cabin," Cole assures. Kai runs out of the room. "I'll follow him. Jay you look after our nindroid," Cole said and Jay nods smiling softly as Cole followed Kai down.
