"A little higher--- okay, look that's not going to work---" I groaned in frustration as the banner sagged unevenly. The house wasn't finished being decorated yet and looked like a mess.
My friends were doing their best trying to help me decorate for Y/n's birthday but, everything seemed to not be as I wanted it. I wanted everything to be perfect--- she deserves that, especially after everything she's been through.
I had decided to invite my sisters over. I wanted them to meet Y/n before I introduce her to my family and I want to change Mary-Kate's mind about her. I know she's only trying to look out for me as my older sister but, she doesn't know Y/n like I do.
"Hey, why don't you let Chris handle that and you and I go set up the treat table?" Scarlett suggested, her voice gentle as she placed a calming hand on my shoulder.
She knew I can be a bit crazy about things like this, I want everything to be perfect for Y/n and I was on the brink of going crazy. I sighed and let go of the banner as Chris came behind and took over.
She hasn't had a birthday party since her mom was alive and the foster homes she would stay in, they didn't care to celebrate her so, I want her big day of becoming an adult to be amazing.
"She's going to love all of this regardless of how it comes out." Aubrey assured me, her eyes full of understanding.
"I know but--- I just want things to be perfect. I still need to finish putting her gifts together, set up the table and then--- shit, I need to go pick up Kyler--- oh and the cake! Fuck---" My words tumbled out of my mouth in a rush, my mind spinning with everything I still had to do.
"Breathe, Lizzie, everything is coming together." Scarlett reassured me as she rubs my shoulders. Scarlett looks at her watch before going over to the hook by my door and grabbing her car keys.
"Okay, finish the treat table--- Maya, help Lizzie. I'll go pick up Kyler and... Christopher, go pick up the cake." Scarlett directs as she tosses Chris the keys.
"Not the government name, I feel like I'm in trouble." Chris joked as he smiled and headed towards the front door.
"Just go wrap the gifts, go get dressed and Maya will finish the table. Alba is setting up the backyard, Flo's on her way with more balloons and stuff, Y/n's friends are distracting her, and look at everyone pitching in! It'll all come together, just go get ready." Scarlett smiles before pushing me gently towards the stairs to get ready.

I grabbed the lighter and put the blunt between my lips, ready to light it when Zion snatches it out of my mouth. "Aye! What the hell?! I just rolled that perfectly!"
"Come on, you want to spend your first day as an adult smoking a blunt?" Zion raised an eyebrow, giving me a disapproving look.
"Ideally, yeah." I smirked as Zion shook his head and lightly tapped my head. "There's time for that later, plus, T and I are taking you out so we don't need you smelling like weed in public."
"Wouldn't be the first time." I muttered under my breath. I was grateful for my friends, I honestly never anticipated seeing 18 years of life after everything I've been through the past handful of years.
I of course, would love to spend today with Kyler and Lizzie as well but, they'll get their time with me soon.
I'd been with my friends basically all day. We hung around, made some money, kicked it, went to breakfast, the usual.
