The Tales and Adventures of Daniel Newman and Celeste Hawthorn

Chapter 7: Vermillion City and Lt. Surge

As they made their way into Vermillion City, Daniel asked the group "Hey, do you think that we can stop by Digglett's Cave to get me some ground type pokemon?"

    The group agreed to that request and went towards Diglett's Cave. As they enter, the group notices that there weren't many diggletts around and that they were much stronger than what they were use to. Both Daniel and Arcan caught a digglett for themselves. They head out of the cave and make their way to the pokemon center. As they enter the pokemon center, they notice a certain Elite 4 member. It was Agatha. "Babashooka! I didn't know you were going to be here," Arcan happily exclaimed.

    "Well you see my dear, I heard about your battle with Misty and I just wanted to check on you. Now come here and give me a hug," Agatha said as she held her arms out.

    Arcan gave her a hug and asked "What's your name? I guess I never asked you before. I'm sorry if that makes me a bad grandson,"

    "That doesn't make you a bad grandson. My name is Agatha my dear," Agatha said in response

    "Wait... The Agatha... Like from the Elite 4?" Daniel asks.

    "Good eye on you boy. I wish I could stay and chat but I gotta run. Official League business. Bye Arcan," Agatha said with a smile and a wave goodbye.

    "Bye, Babashooka," Arcan said with a smile.

    "Whew, that was a close one," Celeste said so quietly that Daniel could barely hear her.

    "What was that hun? I couldn't hear you," Daniel said looking at Celeste.

    "Oh it's nothing," Celeste responded.

"Hey Arcan, can you do something for me?" Daniel asks.

    "Sure, what is it?" Arcan responds.

    "Can you use flash while I am using my aura vision?" Daniel asks while turning on his aura vision.

    Arcan used flash against Daniel's Aura Vision and overpowered the aura vision. It blinded Daniel for a short while. They head back to the pokemon center to ask Nurse Joy for help. Nurse Joy hands Daniel a seeing eye Growlith and says "He doesn't have a name so why don't you give him a name."

"I think I am going to name you Faith. Yeah... Faith," Daniel says with a smile and walks out of the pokemon center with his friends.

As they make their way out of the pokemon center, they headed towards the gym. They decided to take on Lt. Surge.

As they entered the gym, someone approaches the group. "Welcome to my gym. What brings you maggots here?" Lt. Surge asks in a booming voice.

    "Hey Uncle Surge! It has been a long time," Daniel said with a smile.

    "Nephew! It's so good to see you! How is your mom doing?" Surge said with a smile.

    "She's good. Hasn't been the same since dad left," Daniel said as Celeste started comforting him.

    "Well, your dad was never really around much to begin with," Surge says and then looks at Celeste and asks "Who is this?"

    "Oh this is Celeste, my girlfriend," Daniel says with a smile and a squeeze of Celeste's hand in his.

    When Daniel let the word girlfriend come out of his mouth, Celeste went a slight shade of pink as she blushed. Daniel noticed the blush as he blushed as well. "Well you know that the Champion is a girl right?" Surge said as Celeste was signaling him not to tell Daniel that she was Champion.

    "Oh really? That's good to know. I can't wait to meet them," Daniel said with a smile.

    Arcan was the first one to do the gym challenge. He got through the puzzle with no problem. He then got to Lt Surge and completely decimated his first three pokemon and then Surge through out his ace, Raichu. As Arcan gives the final command, the Raichu faints and Surge hands him the Thunder Badge. Ken was the next person to do the puzzle and he got through it no problem. He walks up to Lt. Surge and challenges him to a battle. As Ken gives his final command, Surge's last pokemon fainted. Surge handed Ken the Thunder Badge and said "You gave me a good fight but now it's time for my nephew to go."

"Not yet Uncle Surge, I think Celeste should go before me," Daniel said with a smile.

    "I already have all my badges so I don't need to go at all," Celeste said to Daniel as his smile disappears as she winks "Besides I wanna see how you battle family members."

    "Well I guess it's my turn then," Daniel says as his vision returns and turns toward Celeste "Oh hey my vision is back and you are just as beautiful as ever."

    Celeste blushes and giggles as Daniel gives her a quick peck on the check. He goes through the puzzle with ease. He walks up to Surge and asks "You ready for my team Uncle Surge? Don't hold back on me."

    "Never in a million years Dan. Now, let's get to battling," Surge says with a smile as he throws out his first pokemon.

    With one final command, Daniel defeats Surge's team. Surge turns to him, hands him the badge, and says with a smile "You put up one hell of a fight. Here is your badge. I know this is the farthest you have gotten and I just want to say that I am proud of you."

    "Thanks Uncle Surge. I'll see you later," Daniel says as he turns to head out the door.

    As Daniel and his friends head of the gym, they head towards the pokemon center to heal up their pokemon. As they enter the pokemon center, Nurse Joy says "You can keep him if you want to."

    "I would love to keep him and I promise to take good care of him," Daniel says with a smile as he hands her his pokemon.

    "Did you figure it out yet?" Celeste asks Daniel as he walks back to the group.

    He leans in close and whispers into Celeste's ear "I have to face you at the league."

    "You got it! I wonder if everyone else got it?" Celeste questioned, looking to the other two but more specifically Arcan.

"I knew the moment that you said that you had all the badges," Arcan says with a boyish smile on his face.

As the group talks, Daniel was making Celeste so embarrassed that she dragged him out of the pokemon center and Daniel laughs. They decide to go on a date and end the night the same way they ended their date in Cerulean City, falling asleep in each other's arms.
