Daniel, Arcan, and Ken arrived in Pewter City shortly after nightfall. They decided to stop at the pokemon center to heal up their pokemon and take a night of rest. As they started to wake up, the group noticed that their pokemon were laying right next to them. "Oh hi Veenee, there's my girl," Daniel said with happiness in his voice as he hugged his Eevee.

As they leave the pokemon Center, Daniel and his friends decide to head to the gym first thing in the morning. "Well this is going to be fun," Ken proclaimed with the sound of infinite sleep in his voice.

"Yeah, well this is my second time doing this gym and I will not be defeated again," Daniel pipes up with a sound of determination in his voice.

Arcan then says "Well, I have been sheltered my whole life thanks to my grandmother."

Ken rebuttals with a coolness in his voice "I'm so sorry Arcan."

As they walk into the gym, the manager walks in and asks to see their league cards. When they show their cards, the manager leads them to the area where the gym challenge is going to be held. "Here you are, good luck, and have fun!" The manager shouted to Daniel and his friends.

Ken was the first one to take on this gym. He defeated the first trainer with no problem. When he got to the last trainer before Brock, his pokemon were beaten so bad that Brock gave him a pity badge. "Here you look like you need help," Brock shouted towards him and tossed the badge at him.

Ken looks at him with a cold, dead stare "Thanks,"

Next was Arcan, and he went through the first trainer with no issues. The second trainer again has no issues, and then he gets to Brock. "Well I see you did better than your friend back there. I gave him a pity badge because I felt bad for him," Brock proclaimed confidently

Arcan stayed silent for a moment and then answered "Yeah, I saw that but I am ready whenever you are."

As Arcan gave the final command, he knocked out Brock's Onix. Brock hands him the gym badge and says "You put up a good fight. Here you go. The Boulder Badge."

Arcan gleefully says "Thanks and you did good too."

As Arcan walks back to Daniel and Ken, he proudly clutches his badge and exclaims "I got it! I am one step closer to battling my grandmother! She's really strong." Daniel then replies with "I guess it's my turn again."
Daniel walks up to the first trainer, defeating him in two rounds with no problems. After that he walks up to the second trainer, defeats him with no issues. Then he gets to Brock. "Looks like you are strong and a great trainer. You remind me of a friend of mine," Brock says to Daniel.

"Really? Who do I remind you of?" Daniel asks quizzingly. He seems genuinely curious as to who Brock is talking about.

"Our current Champion, who is very talented," Brock replies.

"Well I can't wait to meet them," Daniel says with a smile.

As Daniel is battling with Brock, he gives one final command to his pokemon and defeats Brock with a strong blow. "Thanks for a good match Brock. That was fun!" Daniel said cheerfully.

"You didn't do too bad yourself. Here is your badge!" Brock said as he handed Daniel the Boulder Badge. As they left the gym they had their eyes set on Mt. Moon and what it holds for them.
