James Potter was with his wife in a large parlor decorated comfortably with roomy fluffy armchairs, a long sofa, and a large desk against the west side of the room. James was at the desk, correspondence spread out in front of him a frown on his face while he considered a response to the Minister. Frank had been upset with the outcome of the most recent voting session.

Frank Longbottom was a longtime friend, but there was no denying he was a bit more rigid than James on the scale of right and wrong. Sirius' vote for Greengrass and Malfoy's proposal had allowed room for other votes to flip in favor as his aye would draw most of the press attention.

Sirius, for all that he loved being sneaky about his goals, had been in this instance very blunt about his view of this law. Very little leeway was given to wizards afflicted with Lycanthropy. One mistake by Remus could conceivably have him sent to Azkaban. Despite James' reassurances, that would never happen, he knew it was something that bothered Sirius, especially after macabre pictures had been leaked of the younger Goyle getting the Dementor's kiss.

James sighed and rubbed at his forehead while trying to figure out how to calm Frank about Sirius' political leanings. "Why did I go into bloody politics..."

"Because you were idealistic and thought you were going to fix everything." Lily stood up, putting her medical text aside on the sofa, and walked to her husband.

"The idealistic part has definitely been fixed."

Lily smiled, stopping when she was behind James. He leaned his head back and looked at her. "I think your idealism is sexy."

"Yeah?" James spun the chair so he was facing his wife, drawing her between his spread legs. "Tell me about this sexiness."

Lily laughed leaning down about to whisper dirty things when the wards of the manor alerted them to a sudden entry.

James jumped up and caught his wife, as his sudden motion caused her to stumble backward. "Sorry, Lils. Stay down here, let me go see what that was." He grabbed his wand from the desk.

"That would be a no," Lily advised going back to the side table where her wand lay next to her texts.

"Lily."

"James."

"Fine, stay behind me," James called over his shoulder as he walked quickly to the area of the unauthorized entry. "I don't understand how someone popped in like that though the wards should keep everyone out."

"Could it be Sirius?"

"No. He's allowed in the wards, it wouldn't have alerted to an unknown person." James paused at the landing of the second floor. "And they're in Harry's room."

"Hmm. Harry had that work game today."

"Yes, the one he said we couldn't go to," James said still a little disgruntled at that. "Children are so ungrateful."

Lily gave a small laugh despite the fact there was an intruder in her home. While she was concerned, she had absolutely no doubt that she and her husband would handle whoever it turned out to be. "Yeah, he reminds me of you."

"I was grateful for all my wonderful attributes."

They both quieted however as they stood in front of the door and James waved his wand, the door opening silently and they both entered. The sun was shining through the large windows and illuminated a curly-haired someone sleeping soundly in their son's room.

"Is that–?" Lily started while James went into the room.

"The Unspeakable Granger that has Harry twisted in knots?" James stopped at the edge of the bed cocking his head. "Yes. And that really looks like one of the engagement pieces from the family vault."
