(Based off of the end of book 3, some of book 4 and book 10, as well as a story from Astonishly Good Stories, for the purpose of this story i’ve named the King Harald. Also this will be a 3 part story) hope you enjoy :)

No-one:

THAT’S NOT MY DAUGHTER! WHERE IS SHE! Jeg overlot datteren min i hendene på en feit imbecille, og se nå, han har mistet henne.

The king was angry, no he was livid, no he was something indescribable. The scene was something out of a Spanish soap opera. The king carried on insulting the headmaster whose skin turned to a shade of petrified unseen by humankind before. The students started whispering about where the missing princess was, and the so-called imposter was being held by Magnus, the supposed missing princess’ guard who couldn’t even meet the eyes of his king.

Deciding to end this telenovela, a small girl with an ugly hat whistled, which stopped everyone in their tracks.

“You don’t have to worry your majesty, your daughter is safe with Binky over there”, as she motioned to Binky and ‘Debbie’.

The king leapt from the stage and engulfed his daughter in the biggest bear hug imaginable, partnered with bear like sounds as well. As he stroked his daughter’s hair, he glanced at Friday and gave her a curt nod, who simply looked away.. He then led the real Ingrid back to the stage and by the time he turned to look back at the young girl,, panic had ensued. The fake Ingrid ran away with the trophy and the girl  and some blonde boy ran after her via Butterfly Buttons. As the chase progressed the King couldn’t keep his eyes off the girl with the ugly hat, intrigued how she knew exactly who his daughter was.

King Harald:

Magnus, if you wish for me to forget your insolence, you’ll tell me about that girl. I trust you weren’t completely incompetent that you didn’t do background checks on all the spoiled brats at this school. As I continued to chew into Magnus who couldn’t even meet my eye, I started to feel bad. I knew that Ingrid was the one who convinced Magnus to continue with this scenario, but still, he should’ve known better.

“Friday Astrella Barnes, age 12, female, doormates and best friend with airline magnate’s Richard Pelly’s only daughter Melanie Alice Pelly. Her parents, Dr Evagaline Barnes and Dr Rupert Barnes and 4 older siblings, Dr Quantum Barnes, Dr Haley Barnes, Dr Orion Barnes and Dr Quasar Barnes are world renowned physicists, currently being scouted worldwide by many military powers including our own. Her father currently works here as an interim physics teacher, the rest of her family is in Switzerland because her mother is to receive a Nobel Prize in October.”, Magnus started to list off, still not looking at me. He then continued.

“Friday is the youngest and has been funding her own tuition by solving cases both within and outside the school. She has the intelligence of the rest of her family but applies it to public service in the forms of mystery. At first it was for payment, but she thoroughly enjoys it.”, he finished with the deepest bow and stepped back.

Intrigued, I ask whether or not she was told that my daughter was the real princess. Magnus, for the first time met my gaze and replied.

“I was under orders by the princess not to reveal her identity, which I agreed would be the best course of action. There is no access to the outside world at this school, so there is no way she knew what Ingrid looked like and I don’t think she is the type of person to keep up with news about international royalty. As I said, she is quite a successful little detective. She may even be o..”, he stopped mid-sentence as I raised my hand to silence him.

During this entire conversation that girl stopped the imposter, not because she caught up, but because she had the foresight to stop all escape routes to ensure success. This girl, this Friday I believe she is called, is truly intelligent. Not only in stopping the imposter but also laying out the trap that led to her capture. She is quite something, especially for her age. But not just that. She made sure to keep Ingrid safe, the real one, even though it wasn’t her responsibility and for that she will be rewarded, I’ll make sure of that. Maybe I could offer her a place in the palace, with someone with her mind and my resources, she could go very far in life.
