The Fellowship tumbled out of the Great Eastern Gate onto a grassy, sunlit hill. Sam, Merry, and Pippin fell slowly to the ground, sobbing. Aragorn turned to Legolas, Gimli, and Liv.
"Legolas, get them up," said Aragorn, urgency in his voice.
"Give them a moment, for pity's sake," Boromir interjected, his tone reflecting a rare softness.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with Boromir," added Liv, concern etched across her face.
"By nightfall, these hills will be swarming with orcs. We must reach the woods of Lothlórien. Come, Boromir, Legolas, Gimli, Liv, get them up. On your feet, Sam," Aragorn commanded, the weight of responsibility heavy in his words.
Liv knelt down beside the weeping hobbits, a gentle hand on Sam's shoulder. "Sam, we have to keep moving. We'll grieve, but not here. We must honore his sacrifice by surviving."
Legolas, Gimli, and Boromir gathered around Merry and Pippin, lifting them up with solemn tenderness. Gimli, usually gruff, looked uncharacteristically solemn as he heaved Merry onto his shoulder. "We'll watch over you, little ones," he murmured, his voice gruff with emotion.
Boromir took the lead, his broad frame shielding them from the chilling winds that heralded the darkening of the day. "We press on. We'll keep moving until we can grieve in safety," he said, voice steady, masking his own grief.
With Aragorn at the helm, they began their solemn march, the Fellowship moving forward, the weight of loss heavy in their hearts.
Boromir glanced towards Frodo, then back at Aragorn. Frodo was walking away as if in a daze. "Frodo, Frodo," Aragorn called out. Frodo slowly turned, a look of numb shock on his face, as if the weight of the Ring was already consuming him. The Fellowship continued their march, leaving the shadow of the gate behind.
As they walked away, Legolas pulled Liv aside. "Liv, we need to talk," he said, a serious tone in his voice.
"About what?" asked Liv, glancing at Legolas, her expression curious.
"About what happened in the mines. How do you have that much power?" Legolas inquired, his blue eyes piercing.
"Fine, you really want to know?" asked Liv, her tone guarded.
"Yes," Legolas replied firmly.
"I'm a Power Ranger, and that power you saw—that's my symbol power," Liv confessed.
"How long have you been a Power Ranger?" Legolas inquired, genuinely intrigued.
"Since I was 7 or 8," Liv replied, a note of nostalgia in her voice.
"Was it your choice to become a Power Ranger?" Legolas asked, trying to understand.
"It depends. Sometimes Rangers choose to be Power Rangers, and sometimes they are chosen by their mentors. In my case, I was chosen," Liv explained.
"How did you get your powers?" Legolas probed further, his curiosity piqued.
"Oh, they were passed down to me," Liv replied, her expression turning thoughtful.
"Passed down from who?" Legolas pressed, his curiosity getting the better of him.
"Honestly, I have no idea. All I know is that I'm supposed to be the Purple Ranger," Liv confessed.
"And you kept this a secret from the rest of us?" Legolas asked, a hint of reproach in his voice.
"Power Rangers are not supposed to tell people their secret," Liv replied, her tone apologetic.
"Why not?" Legolas questioned, not entirely satisfied with the answer.
"National security," Liv replied simply, hoping it would suffice.
"Do Power Rangers protect the entire world or just their city?" asked Legolas.
"Depends on the Ranger team," Liv replied.
"There are other Power Ranger teams?" Legolas asked, surprised.
"That's right," Liv replied.
"Which Power Ranger team are you a part of?" asked Legolas.
"Well, I was a member of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers last year, and now I'm a member of the Samurai Power Rangers," Liv replied.
"Can you do me a favor?" asked Liv.
"What is it?" asked Legolas.
"Can you not tell the others about this yet? I want to be the one to explain it to them," asked Liv.
"Of course, as long as you tell them the truth," Legolas replied.
"Legolas, Liv, hurry up!" said Aragorn.
"I knew that was coming. Let's catch up to them," said Liv.
"You are right. I do not want to be left behind," said Legolas. They hurried to rejoin the rest of the Fellowship, the weight of their conversation lingering between them, but the urgency of their quest driving them forward.
