"If we are quick, we will catch Frodo and Sam before nightfall," said Legolas, his voice urgent with the need to act swiftly.
Aragorn looked towards the distant riverbank, where Frodo and Sam's small boat lay abandoned, disappearing into the forest beyond.
"You mean not to follow them?" Legolas asked, turning to Aragorn, his eyes searching for guidance.
"Frodo's fate is no longer in our hands," Aragorn replied solemnly, his gaze fixed on the vanishing figures of the hobbits.
Gimli shook his head, his expression clouded with disappointment. "Then it has all been in vain. The fellowship has failed," he lamented.
Aragorn's eyes hardened with resolve. "Not if we hold true to each other. We will not abandon Merry and Pippin to torment and death, not while we still have strength left," he declared, determination ringing in his voice.
With a swift motion, Aragorn reached for a hunting knife from his pack, strapping it on with purpose. "We travel light. Let's hunt some orc," he suggested, his tone resolute.
As they prepared to depart, Liv's demeanor shifted, her gaze falling to the ground.
"Yes," Gimli agreed readily, ready to stand by Aragorn's side as always.
But then, to their surprise, Liv spoke up. "I will not be going with you," she announced softly, her voice tinged with regret.
Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli turned to her, their expressions a mix of surprise and concern.
"Why not?" Legolas inquired gently, his brow furrowed with worry.
"I can't continue the journey. I'm sorry," Liv replied, her voice barely above a whisper.
"Where will you go?" Legolas asked, his concern evident in his voice.
Liv hesitated for a moment before responding. "Home. My parents are probably worried," she admitted, her gaze distant.
Legolas paused, considering Liv's words carefully. "I will go with you," he offered suddenly, determination shining in his eyes.
"Legolas, are you sure you want to do this?" Aragorn asked, surprised by his friend's decision.
"Of course, I'm sure. Liv is like a little sister to me," Legolas replied, his tone unwavering.
Aragorn nodded, understanding the depth of their bond. "Will we still be able to contact you?" he asked, practicality creeping into his tone.
"Give me your phone," Liv requested, extending her hand towards Aragorn.
Aragorn handed over his phone, and Liv swiftly added her information to his contacts. She did the same with Legolas and Gimli, ensuring they could stay in touch despite their parting.
As Aragorn and Gimli disappeared into the woods, leaving Legolas and Liv on their own, Legolas turned to her with a thoughtful expression.
"How far do you live from here?" he asked.
"To be honest, I don't have the slightest idea," Liv admitted with a small laugh.
Legolas smiled. "Why don't we start walking and see where that takes us?" he suggested.
"Sure," Liv replied, a hint of relief in her voice as they began their journey together, uncertain of what lay ahead but grateful for each other's company.
