One Moment Outside

The confines of this building cannot hold me back.

So long as there's a door, a window,

A mere hole in the wall

I will feel the sun on my skin.

If only for a moment,

I will be comforted, recharged,

Relaxed.

If only for a second,

I will step outside.

I will lay on a mattress of green grass.

I will inhale the sweet scent of earth underneath.

I will be calmed by the sounds,

The squirrels in the trees, the birds in the air.

The breeze will heal my compressed lungs.

The sun will comfort my lonely skin.

The empty sky will clear my racing mind.

All I need is one moment outside.
