He was right when he said acouple hours, it's been almost three hours and the tour is almost finished. Now we are on that night walk he talked about, heading out of town to see a new view. I continue regretting my choice of a dress, I decided to wear one to not stand out, since a rich place like this hardly any of the wemon wear pants. So I figured I could wear pants around the mansion but not if I go into town. Dylan seemed stunned I wore a dress but didn't pay much mind, probably figuring I just wear pants for commissions.
"What! I'm not doing that I'll trip on a rock in this stupid thing!"
We walked the entire time in the town, I learned many things about him like his family, his food preferances, likes, dislikes. I didn't expect to tell him alot of things but I did, so much for keeping a low profile, but with him it was so easy to talk. He already knows about my parents being gone, but I didn't say anything about Danica being... All I said was I'm here for her, to help her, which is true. He saw my face as I talked about her and didn't push for answers, we shared memories instead, and he showed me acouple pictures he keeps close.
Our past jobs was a fun topic, he grew up in Unithar and worked a lot of places and had a lot of crazy people to talk about. Something I assumed about him was he is a rich boy. I only guessed that because of his look, and the way he dresses. However that's not the case he wasn't poor, but like me he grew up with what they had, just enough to have a good life. Now that he works at the mansion he's made more money and helps his parents. I've broke the nice country girl act I was hoping to pull off, it's nice being myself around him.
"Well then why did you wear it?"
"Because- I don't even know why!"
"Okay, okay, just trust me in this I'll make sure you don't fall. You'll thank me, just close your eyes"
"Fine. If I fall-"
"Yes, yes, I know, now give me your arm."
No, he doesn't 'know'. I smile as I close my eyes and he puts a hand in my arm leading me to- up a hill it seems. Slowly but surely we make it up and finally stop and he speaks up.
"Okay, you successfully didn't fall! The test went smoothly you can actually walk in 'the stupid thing'."
"You better be joking with me-"
I open my eyes about to say something about how I already know how hard it is to walk in a dress, but I stop as I see the lights of the town. I become speachless, I've seen my town from a distance but the small town has nothing in comparison to here. From a distance, windows look like lanterns in the sky, the shade of the moonlight on the buildings almost seemed drawn in, and the stars highlight the background.
"Worth it?"
"Definitely."
Dylan sits down, and pats the ground next to him as an invitation. It sit on my knees still astonished as we look out silently for the next couple minutes. I feel a drip of water in my head, than another one, acouple seconds after on my hand.
"Did you feel that? I thought it wasn't supposed to rain until tomorrow?"
"Hmm, maybe I got the days wrong, oh and sometimes if it's a heavy rain it happens a day or two ahead... We better start running actually."
I go to ask why, but suddenly a loud thunder rolls across and the rain starts poaring. I get up, and grab the bottom of my dress so I don't trip and it doesn't get to wet. We aren't to far, but we are a good enough running distance from the town. My curly hair is now soaking wet and partially staright, as we reach about twenty yards from the inn. I open the door and we rush in, catching our breaths. Dylan starts laughing hysterically and I find myself laughing with him. The time I've been here hasn't been busy but normally there are a few people, right now however it's just the two of us, laughing like maniacs.
"W-wait, wait, why are you here! You need to be at the mansion before it gets worse!"
"I have no idea, I just followed you I wasn't thinking." He sigh, letting out acouple more chuckles before stopping. "I'll stay here a while, when it lets off abit I'll rush home."
We pick an empty table by a window, and talk waiting for the rain. However after ten minutes it hasn't slowed, he seems almost dry, while my hair is still dripping and so is the dress, now feeling heavy because of the water. We continue talking, it would seem like we'd have nothing more to talk about but somehow we manage. I notice his movements, normally a person would jump when an unexpected and loud thunder happens, but he's still, almost as if he can tell the second they will happen.
"I don't think it's letting up anytime soon. So I better leave before it gets worse."
"So soon?"
"Want to spend more time with me do you? Hours on end isn't enough? Well, I'd say see you tomorrow to make you at ease but the way the rain is it may rain all night and day. Best to stay inside."
I didn't mean to say that out loud, I don't even know why I thought it, he was right we were together for hours. Wait, stay inside? How can I meet the Dragon and capture him if I'm inside? My mood quickly drops, how did I forget why I was in Unithar? It didn't cross my mind once today how could I forget about this- this may be my best chance, I can find... What was the Fire Dragons name? Mirri? Yes, Mirri, I can find Mirri, and the Water Dragon's room and take them to Terran, they will be stuck inside all day in their rooms!
"My first day is postponed? That's to bad, I was actually looking forward to working." He laughs once more. He has a nice laugh- wait what am I thinking! Ugh, get your head in the game! "I'll go over there when it stops raining and I can teach the Water Dragon then. I'd give you an umbrella but it won't do any good."
"Yes, well don't be to sad if you don't see me in a day."
He smiles at me as he heads for the door, getting soaked once he opens it.
"I'm sure I'll manage."
He sprints in one direction, heading to the mansion. Hopefully he makes it, I would have said he could stay with me but I only have one bed, and all the other rooms are booked. I go into my room, and quickly take off this horrible wet dress and hang it to dry in a good spot, before I go shower and rest. Hopefully I can do everything right tomorrow. I can't fail, I can't act like I'm not kidnapping the Dragons if I get caught, everything is riding on this. If anything goes wrong I'd like to think Dylan would help, but he won't think to kindly of me after this is over. It's to bad really, I enjoyed his company. He may be a bit annoying, but he's carrying, kind, and seems to always have a comment for something but knows when to keep quiet. He's a good man, to bad he had to waste his time with someone like me.
