Chapter 3

The image of the place on the letter looks much bigger in person. A large temple in the middle of a dessert, a much lighter brown than the sand surrounding it. The doors squeek loudly as I push them open, only taking acouple steps before they slam closed behind me.

"Ah, there she is. You took your time."

An old man sits down at what looks like a throne room, four seats all the same size centered at the top of the steps. He is occupying the one in the middle on the left side.

"The trip was long."

"Yes a four day trip and you managed to be here in five, quite impressive." He leans on his arm, more into the light, showing his short greyed beard and peppered hair. "I wasn't sure if you would come I'm happy to see you did."

"My father was a good man, he knew many people, befriended anyone who would talk with him, but a select few he would consider to be a 'close' friend."

"Straight to the point, I'll get on with it then."

Snarky and sarcastic. With no smile on his face, the exact opposite of my dad. I don't understand how he could have been close to him.

"Your father was very interested in The Divine. He wanted to know everything about the dragons before they gave their elements. And about how the elements worked with humans."

He pointed up towards the ceiling. A beautiful painting, almost gone from age but still visible except in some small areas.

"Blue, red, brown, and white Dragons for water, fire, earth, and air. That's what the Dragons looked like, breath taking isn't it?"

The Dragon's are just as he said, breathtaking, the ocean, fire, mountains, and wind behind all of them. They all look like they are going towards each other, two on each side.

"Yes it is, but I don't understand what this has to do with my parents."

Finally, a smile appears on his face, still the same snarky and sarcastic look, despite the change in his face.

"You've got some of your mother in you
as well. Don't worry I was getting to that. Your father believed that if the dragons can give their elements to humans what if, the humans can give a person life?"

"That's a very large leap Mr. Terran."

"Yes, but look at it this way: The human body is made up of sixty percent water, you need a shock back to life or a fire in your soul, we are Earthly beings, and a breath of air. It isn't impossible and I believe I have a way."

"If you think the Dragons would willingly bring people they don't know back to life, your insane."

"Well only one has to be 'active' during the process."

"You want to kill them!"

"Now your getting the full picture little Hale! I know where three of them are, all you have to do is go get the the Fire and Water Dragon in the capital, and find the missing Wind Dragon, and I'll handle the Earth Dragon!"

"You want me to kill two of the Dragons!?"

"No, your just a child! I would never ask you to do such a thing- but if you want to get paid ALOT of money than yes! I just need you to bring them to me and pick which parent you want first.''

"Pick! I thought you could bring them all back?"

"Oh no! That would take eight Dragons for you and- wait what do you mean all?"

"The reason why I was a day late is because Danica, my sister died two days before I left."

"Ah, that must be hard for you, no parents and your only sister. Wait, five days ago? Your sister would be the easiest to get back little Hale. I figured you'd parents might take weeks but if we get this done in a week maybe a day or two after we can get her back for you!"

A weight felt like it had been lifted, I had already grieved my parents, I would love to get them back, but Danica was to young to die. I hate that I have to pick, but I know my parents would be disappointed if I didn't give her a second chance.

"Wait, what's in this for you?"

"The outcome. If I can bring a person back to life that can mean so many things for me."

"What kind of things?"

The smile was now off his face, and now he seemed upset. It wasn't just the way he looks this time, but almost as if I had asked the wrong question. He slowly walks closer to me, standing tall infront of me making sure I hear him.

"Listen here, I asked you here because you are a lot like your daddy. Adventurous, and detectivey, he could find me anyone across the lands and you show potential in that. But you won't be getting to play detective with me, you can get your sister back, that's all you need to know."

Oh how I wanted to push him for more answers, but I know when to quit and I know I would get nothing useful out of him right now by asking.

"What's the quickest way to the capital?"

The smile was crawling back on his face, as he lifted his arm and pointed west. "There is a train, that will take about ten minutes to get there." He slowly slips money into my bag. "That should be enough... And it will come out of your pay check."

"How am I supposed to find a missing person in such a short amount of time?"

"That's not my problem, it depends how badly you miss your sister little Hale, and if your anything like your father, it won't take you long."

--------------------------------------------------------------

Well, well, well... This chapter is the shortest yet, but not by much! I'll try to make the rest not as short I promise! Even though it's short it is the kick-start of the entire book... Or was it Danica dieing... Maybe this is the second kick-start, anyway!

I hope you enjoyed the third episode of Dragon Dream! There are plenty more to come, and my favorite character (I'm not biased I swear-) will be introduced next episode! So hopefully you like them as well!

(Alittle fact you most likely don't need but something you should know about the nickname 'little Hale' : Hale isn't Kimi's father's name, it's their last name... Kimi Hale... It's not very important but I wanted to put this here so people don't think that her father's name is Hale.)
