HOPE OF RECOVERY
In the dimly lit hospital room, the steady beeping of machines was the only sound punctuating the heavy silence of the late night. Vamika lay in her bed, her eyes fluttering open as consciousness slowly seeped back into her weary body. Blinking against the harsh glare of the overhead lights, she glanced around the room, trying to piece together her surroundings. And there, beside her bed, was Ekanksh, his head resting on the edge of the mattress, his steady breathing the only indication that he was asleep.
A soft smile tugged at the corners of Vamika's lips as she watched him sleep, a rush of warmth flooding her chest. Without conscious thought, her hand reached out to gently caress his hair, the soft strands slipping through her fingers like silk. The sudden movement caused Ekanksh to stir, his eyes fluttering open as he lifted his head to gaze at her.
"Vamika?" he murmured, his voice thick with sleep and concern. "Are you alright?"
Vamika's smile widened as she nodded, her heart swelling with affection for the man before her. "I'm okay, Ekanksh," she reassured him, her voice barely above a whisper. "I just... I just wanted to touch you. To make sure you were really here."
A flicker of emotion passed through Ekanksh's eyes before he reached out to gently grasp her hand in his. "I'm here, Vamika," he said softly, his thumb brushing over the back of her hand in a soothing gesture. "I'm not going anywhere."
The tension that had been coiled tight in Vamika's chest began to unravel at his words, a sense of peace settling over her like a warm blanket. She squeezed his hand in silent gratitude, her gaze never leaving his as they shared a moment of quiet understanding.
Their reverie was interrupted by the arrival of the doctor, his footsteps echoing softly in the sterile hallway outside. He entered the room with a brisk efficiency, his expression unreadable as he approached Vamika's bedside.
"Mafia King," he greeted Ekanksh with a nod, his attention turning to the monitors beside the bed as he began to assess Vamika's condition. "She's showing good progress. Her vitals are stable, and she's regained consciousness, which is a positive sign."
Relief flooded through Ekanksh at the doctor's words, his shoulders sagging with the weight of tension that had been lifted. "Thank you, doctor," he said gratefully, his voice tinged with emotion. "Thank you for taking care of her."
The doctor nodded in acknowledgement before turning his attention back to Vamika, his expression becoming more serious as he continued his examination. "She's still weak, of course," he explained, his tone professional. "But she's responding well to treatment. I would estimate that she's recovered about 50% of her strength."
Ekanksh's heart soared at the news, a surge of hope coursing through him like a bolt of lightning. "And the other 50%?" he asked eagerly, his eyes fixed on the doctor's face.
The doctor paused, his expression thoughtful as he considered his words. "With continued rest and care, I see no reason why she shouldn't make a full recovery," he declared finally, his voice firm. "I would recommend taking her home as soon as possible, where she can recuperate in familiar surroundings."
A wave of gratitude washed over Ekanksh as he absorbed the doctor's prognosis, a sense of profound relief flooding through him like a tidal wave. "Thank you, doctor," he said sincerely, his voice choked with emotion. "Thank you for giving us hope."
As the doctor left the room to attend to his other patients, Ekanksh turned back to Vamika, his heart overflowing with love and gratitude for the woman who lay before him. "You're going to be okay, Vamika," he promised her, his voice filled with conviction. "I'll make sure of it."
And as they sat together in the quiet of the hospital room, their hands intertwined and their hearts united, they knew that no matter what challenges lay ahead, they would face them together, hand in hand, until the end of time.
The journey back to the palace was a quiet one, the stillness of the early morning wrapping around them like a comforting blanket. Vamika sat beside Ekanksh in the car, her mind swirling with thoughts and emotions as they made their way through the empty streets. She stole glances at him from the corner of her eye, unable to shake the feeling of warmth that filled her whenever she looked at him.
As they arrived at the palace, Vamika hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest as she realized they were heading towards Ekanksh's chamber. "Ekanksh," she began, her voice hesitant, "maybe you should drop me off at my room instead..."
But before she could finish her sentence, Ekanksh shook his head, a determined look in his eyes. "No, Vamika," he said softly, his voice gentle yet firm. "You belong with me. I want you here, by my side."
Vamika's heart skipped a beat at his words, her cheeks flushing with warmth as she met his gaze. She opened her mouth to protest, but the look in Ekanksh's eyes stopped her short. There was a depth of emotion there that she couldn't deny, a silent plea for her to trust him, to believe in them.
With a resigned sigh, Vamika nodded, her hand trembling slightly as she reached out to take Ekanksh's. Together, they made their way to his chamber, the weight of their intertwined fingers a comforting anchor in the sea of uncertainty that surrounded them.
As they entered the dimly lit room, Vamika's eyes swept over the opulent surroundings, the richness of the furnishings a stark contrast to the simplicity of her own quarters.
But Ekanksh seemed oblivious to her inner turmoil as he gently guided her to the bed, his touch sending a shiver down her spine. He laid her down with a tenderness that took her breath away, his eyes never leaving hers as he tucked the blankets around her.
Once she was settled, Ekanksh stepped back, his gaze lingering on her face as if committing every feature to memory. And then, without a word, he reached for his phone and dialed a number, his voice low as he spoke to the person on the other end.
Vamika listened in silence as Ekanksh explained the situation to her father ( king of Udaipur ) , his words echoing in the quiet room. She felt a surge of gratitude towards him for taking care of everything, for shouldering the burden of her well-being without hesitation.
When Ekanksh finally ended the call, he turned back to Vamika, his eyes soft with affection as he gazed at her. She met his gaze with a mixture of wonder and disbelief, still unable to comprehend how she had ended up here, lying in his bed, with him by her side.
The room was bathed in the soft glow of moonlight, casting shadows across the walls and illuminating Vamika's face with an ethereal beauty. Ekanksh couldn't help but marvel at her, at the way she seemed to glow in the moonlight, her features softened by its gentle embrace.
Slowly, almost hesitantly, Ekanksh reached out to her, his hand coming to rest lightly on her stomach. He felt her tense slightly at his touch, but she didn't pull away, allowing him to draw her closer to him.
And as they lay there together, bathed in the soft light of the moon, Ekanksh found himself lost in the depths of Vamika's eyes, his heart overflowing with love for the woman lying beside him. He knew that they had a long journey ahead of them, that there would be challenges and obstacles to overcome. But in that moment, none of it mattered. All that mattered was the two of them, together, under the watchful gaze of the moon.
