Chapter 14. STAY AWAY.

For the first time I've come to work early and attended the meeting from the beginning.

Every once in a while we always have departments meeting with the CEO , all the department in this company.

At first I never attended it because it's always the head of the department and one staff member , and I was never that one staff member , but ever since I became Mrs. Henderson's favorite , I've always been that one staff member .

" I can see we're doing very well so far , we've even shot up higher, everything is under control," he goes quiet for a second then... "And for that reason I was thinking that after this busy season , maybe at the new year you could go on a trip. Ms. Cooper , add that on the list."

Wow , so he's really kind enough to pay for people to go on a trip? Paige told me that they go once in a while , mostly in new years , but I never believed her until now.

" Yes sir." Trina says smiling broadly. Trina Cooper is his secretary who I don't like very much , not like I have a reason not to like her, I just don't.

When I look around , I realize that everyone's face is lit up, except for me , that trip must be really fun , making them behave as if it'll be their first time they'll be going.

Anyway , I can't believe even for a second how this guy is ignoring me , like we don't know each other at all , like we don't have any history.

I say or suggest something and he doesn't even look at me , he just nodes pretending to be doing something more important on that laptop of his.

And when he decides to look at me , he looks at me like a stranger , I can't lie but this feels kinda hurty.

"Keep doing the great work , the meeting adjourned , have a good day all of you."

There are many mumblings of  "You too sir , good day too sir, same to you sir." Except from me!

He leaves his laptop there walking out and Trina takes it , following him with it.

I sit in that boardroom for a moment wondering what I should do with this Hellhound. Suddenly without thinking like always , I run after him.

I hurry fast enough to walk beside him.

" You have a lot to explain!" I say trying to catch up with his speed because it seems like he has just added up his walking speed when he realised am beside him.

"Go to work Mr. Wilson! You should realize by now that am not in for your foolishness , and this time around am not playing around like you always think I do! When I say go, I mean go , you disrespect me and am going to fire you without a second thought!" He says , for once making me feel like he is serious , making me feel like he really doesn't like me and he would really fire me.

But I don't back down ,

" Are you a chameleon or what ? The last time we were together you were just fine but now you are being like? You had stopped pushing me away , you missed to come to work since Monday, today is on a friday , and us.. we're on level one again! Sending me away like day one." I say , my disappointment of us going back to level one is real.

"Again, go back to work, for the last time don't come to me if it's not work related issue , don't even come in my office , any pressing issue let it get to me through my Secretary, that's what everyone normal in this company does!" He enters his office locking me out.

" Wait! I have a work related issue, c'mon open the door , you know am not gonna leave unless you open it!"

"Then should I ask the guards to help you go away?"

"That's embarrassing!" I says

"Then help yourself "  

"Okay! Fine Mr. CEO, you know what? Am really done with you!" I let my frustrations out , not like he really cares.

I walk back in the elevator ,

"Paige , have you ever felt like quitting ever since you started working here?" I ask her the moment I drop in my chair next to her.

"No , not at all , this is the best place I've ever been , they treat us well and fair , the payment is exciting, the CEO is extremely hot. Why would I wanna quit from this company,"

"I see , well , I wanna quit!"

"Your stubbornness is what is making you feel like this, Juls , you make things hard for yourself."

"Ugh! Everyone keeps saying that to me! Forget it."

I lyi on my desk , knowing very well that I have a lot to do.

Paige pulls me up , making me sit up. "You don't wanna make your life here harder than it is , do you?" She takes the papers on my desk placing them in my hands.  "Fighting" she says lifting her right hand with her fingers folded into a punch, a way of showing, keep going , she smiles at me then gets back to her work.

I see Trina come in and goes to Mrs. Henderson, she tells her something then leaves .
...

"What did you say to him?" I lift up my head only to find Mrs Henderson right behind me.

"Tell who?" I ask her confused.

"Mr. Smith, well guess it worked!"

"I have no idea what you are talking about." Am now even more confused.

"Guess what? He is letting you go back to what you love most , he send his secretary saying, 'let him do whatever he wants'  " she says smiling.

"Shut up... he let me?" I couldn't believe my ears , after all he listens to me somehow.

"Yes sunshine, now you can go meet people like you like it. But just so you know , if you don't impress me , I'll take that right from you myself!"

"You know me.. I never fail to impress."

"Okay , take this , you can start with this" she says giving me the documents, I jump on them like a hungry tiger.

Before I bury myself in them , I take my phone and send him a message.
'Thanks so much Mr. Smith for believing in me again, believing that I could do an effective work out there' with a smiling emoji.

But he is never going to see me anywhere around him ever again , the only way I can have peace in here is avoid him.
