I dove head first
Little did I know
I was diving in the shallow end
I guess you could say I forgot to read the signs
Excitement coursed through my veins
I ran straight to the water
Not really thinking
Ignoring all of the flags and signs
It was all but a blur
I dove head first
Weren't you the one who invited me in?
Weren't you the one who told me it was safe?
Wasn't it YOUR idea to go swimming?
I dove head first
The water flooding my nose
The scent of your cologne was like the chlorine
I guess you could say
I forgot to read the signs
I dove head first
The water was warm
The temperature reminded me of your arms around me
I guess you could say
I ignored the red flags saying "closed"
I dove head first
My arms pointed forward
Reaching out to someone
No one was there
Wasn't this what you wanted?
You told me it was safe
Wasn't this what you wanted?
You told me you wanted me
Isn't this what you wanted?
You started to turn into a ghost
Wasn't this YOUR idea?
Didn't you want me?
You saidâ€¦
I didn't even want to go swimming
You convinced me you were going to be there
You said we had a connection
You said that you wanted thisâ€¦
So why
When I dive right on in
My arms are pointing out
Reaching out
The water is filling my lungs
I'm drowning
Why are you not there?
You started to fade away
You said you didn't want to break my heart
While I find mine beating slower
Slower
Slower
As the water goes cold
Wasn't I what you wanted?
You saidâ€¦
