It was a beautiful day on Destiny Islands. Niji was sitting on the Paopu Tree.
"Sora and Kairi are now working on getting materials for the raft. Well, Sora is. I already gave Kairi my share. What about you, Niji?" Niji turned to see Riku walk over to her. "I just want to relax. I did all that yesterday." She smiled at him. Riku leaned against the tree. "At least you're not lazy like those two." She giggled and nodded. "Yeah. We do all the work." He chuckled, "yeah." "Hey! Let's go a round!" Niji jumped off the tree and grabbed her wooden sword. "Let's go!" Riku chuckled and shook his head. "Alright. This one decides the winner." He grabbed his wooden sword. They both got ready.
Niji actually won against him though.
"Oh yeah! I win, Riku!" Riku shook his head. "I guess you did. Hm?" He looked down at the door that leads to the other side of the island. "Looks like Sora gave Kairi what he gathered. Guess we'll be going home soon." Niji looked over, seeing Sora and Kairi talking. "Yeah. Those two are definitely made for each other." He chuckled and nodded. "Yeah. If only those two actually paid attention." She giggled, "yeah."It was now evening on the island. Sora and Kairi sat on the Paopu Tree, Riku leaned against it, and Niji leaned against a Coconut tree.
"So, Kairi's home is out there somewhere, right?" "Could be. We'll never know by staying here." "But how far could a raft take us?" Sora leaned over to look at Riku. "Who knows? If we have to, we'll think of something else." "So, suppose you get to another world." Kairi giggled. "What would you do there?" "Hm. Well, I haven't really thought about it. It's just... I've always wondered why we're on this island. If there are any other worlds out there, why did we end up on this one? And suppose there are other worlds... then ours is just a little piece of something much greater. So we could have just as easily ended up somewhere else, right?" Riku looked at the duo. "I don't know." Sora laid on the tree now, arms behind his head. "Exactly." He got off the tree. "That's why we need to go out there and find out. Just sitting here won't change a thing. It's the same old stuff. So let's go."
Kairi looked over at Riku. "You've been thinking a lot lately, haven't you?" He faced her. "Thanks to you. If you hadn't come here, I probably would've never thought of any of this." Sora looked at him quickly then away. "Kairi, thanks." "Heh. You're welcome."
The four started to leave the Paopu island.
"Sora." Sora turned to catch a star shaped fruit. "You wanted one, didn't you?" "A paopu fruit..." Riku walked passed him. "If two people share one, their destinies become intertwined. They'll remain a part of each other's lives no matter what. "C'mon, I know you want to try it." "What are you talking--" Riku laughed a bit. He stared at the fruit. He then just tossed it away and ran after Riku, who was running away.
Niji had caught the fruit before it landed on the sand, over the bridge. She stared at it and smiled. She put it in her bag then rushed after the trio.
-Next Day-
Niji smiled as she held her bag. Last night, she hid the Paopu Fruit in the fridge. She got out of her boat and looked around the front of the island. "Not here... guess I go to the back of the island." Niji giggled and quickly ran across the beach. She got to the door and opened it up a tiny bit. She noticed Sora and Riku about to race.
"If I win... um... I'm captain. And if you win?" "I get to share the paopu with Kairi." "W-what?" "Deal? The winner shares a paopu with Kairi." "W-wait a minute..." "Ok! On my count!" Niji closed the door and giggled a bit. "Riku really just loves teasing Sora." She walked off and went to the Secret Place. She entered and went all the way inside. She looked at the door and placed her hand on it. "We will be out of here soon... I can't wait to travel to other worlds..." She blinked then turned to her left. "Who's there?" She saw a cloaked man. "I've come to see the door to this world." "This one?" She pointed at it. "This world has been connected. Tied to the darkness... soon to be completely eclipsed." "Excuse me? This world won't be going anywhere. So just get lost." "You do not yet know what lies beyond the door. There is so very much to learn. You understand so little." "I'll show you! I'll learn everything out there!" "A meaningless effort. One who knows nothing can understand nothing." She looked away then back at him, only to see him not there anymore.
Niji walked out as Sora went passed her. Sora watched her, confused on why she was so angry.
Niji got on her boat as Riku went over to her. "Going back?" She looked up at him and nodded. "Yeah." "I'll go with you." She smiled, "ok." He got into his boat. The duo rowed back to the mainland together. They got out and got onto the beach. They looked out towards the island. "We're going to be leaving tomorrow. Are you ready?" She looked at him and nodded. "Yeah... oh! Riku." He turned to her as she got out a Paopu Fruit from her bag. "Why do you have that?" "Sora tossed it, so um... I thought I would keep it." "Gonna share with Tidus?" She rolled her eyes a bit. "No. I want to share with you." He looked shocked, "me?" "Yes. You. You're my best friend and... I really care about you, Riku." He stared at her then smiled a bit. "Alright. Let's share it then." She smiled and broke it in half. He took one half while she held the other. She looked away, eating hers with her face all red. He ate it calmly, chuckling.
"L-let's go home." "Alright." The duo walked into town and went their separate ways, not knowing what was about to happen.
-That night-
Niji laid in bed, smiling to herself. "Riku and I will always be together..." She looked outside, only to notice a storm. "The raft!" She sat up quickly. She opened her window and climbed out. She ran.
Niji got to the island. Sora and Riku were at the Paopu island. She rushed to the shack and upstairs. She ran out and across the bridge. Riku was being covered in darkness. "Riku!" She reached out her hand and he took it. Sora watched a bit in horror. "N-Niji! Riku!" Light surrounded them all. It disappeared, to show Riku was gone. "No... Riku..." She fell to her knees then looked at her right hand. A strange key was there. "What is this?" She stared at it.
"Keyblade... keyblade..."
Niji got up and glared at the sky. "Niji! We gotta find Kairi!" She turned to Sora and nodded. "Alright. Let's go." The duo went off, with her destroying Shadows. They got to the Secret Place and a door opened. "Go, Sora." He nodded and rushed in.
Everything was now different.
Niji was all alone now. She looked around, "the island!" She looked up to see Darkside just waiting for her. She glared and got ready. "I'll take you down!" And so she did. Darkside got sucked into the dark ball in the sky. She as well got sucked in. She screamed.
