Chapter 13
Nova
The "safe house" was tucked behind some trees and it made me wonder if he brought me here to murder me.
He picked up a rock that was tucked in the dirt and grabbed a key. It was very small on the outside, looked more of like a tiny cabin that you visit on the holidays.
It was chilly and I was shivering to get inside and when we finally did, he switched the light on and it was much bigger on the inside.
It definitely looked like a cabin in those holiday movies. A wrap around island counter, wooden everything which made it so much cozier, an L shape couch plastered in the middle of the living room with a huge flat screen tv hanging on the wall above the fireplace. I notice the slide out doors that most likely led to the backyard but Sean quickly went to close the curtains.
"Who's place is this?" I ask as he starts tossing wood in the fireplace.
"My friends, we usually come here to hang out or..." he stopped himself and cleared his throat. "We hang out here a lot."
My eyebrows furrow in confusion but I didn't question anything.
"You bring girls here?" I couldn't help but ask.
He chuckles. "Girls don't even know this place exists." I wondered what he meant by that.
He must've noticed my silence because he lit the fire and sat down next to me on the couch.
"Wanna watch a movie?"
"No one's gonna interrupt us?" I ask. I was maybe a little uncomfortable at the thought of someone walking in and having no idea who I am.
"You have nothing to be worried about Nova," he placed his bruised hand on my thigh and I looked into his eyes. They weren't red and puffy anymore but there was a look that gave me comfort. I didn't mean to move his hand off my leg it sorta happened when I crossed my legs because I felt something.
He passed me the remote and I noticed as he pulled a small bag from his pocket and begin untying it. The smell was strong immediately and oddly familiar.
"Is that... weed?" I would always think he was a cigarette type of person.
"Does this make you uncomfortable?" He asks with a bit of panic in his voice.
I shook my head. I've never been much of a smoker, but I'm not really allowed to anyway since my parents will kill me. Mainly my dad.
As he rolled I settled on an action thriller movie with Adam Sandler, his movies are always gold.
"Have you ever smoked before?" He asks lighting the joint. I was surprised at how fast that was.
"My parents would disown me if I did," I say. He takes a puff and inhale, I watch as the smoke leaves his mouth and nose.
Oh my god.
"What they don't know won't hurt them... right?" He says with a smirk and I smack his arm for mocking me.
I take a deep breath as I brought it to my lips and suck, I inhaled and immediately started coughing.
He chuckles. "Take it easy girl." He gets up to go to the kitchen. It hit the back of my throat like a punch which burned a little.
I did it again and this time I didn't cough as much. I hit it a couple more times and he comes back with two bottles of water. This is definitely needed.
I took a few gulps and felt relaxed. For once my mind was actually at ease. We took turns puffing and passing while watching the movie, I noticed every once in a while his leg would brush up against mine and I would feel those electric sparks through my veins.
By the time the joint was done, I was totally fried. Not a care in the world. Is this why people get high?
"How do you feel?" Sean asks and it sounded like his voice got deeper. I looked at him and his eyes were low, I looked away. He looked too good right now and I'm not sure if it's the curly messy hair or me being extremely horny all of a sudden.
"I feel good," I say. "How do you feel?"
"The same. It's your first time smoking so I have to make sure you don't green out."
I laugh and hit his arm. "I can handle some weed."
He throws his arms up in defense.
"Most people your size can't finish a whole blunt," he says.
I roll my eyes. "I'm not most people."
We fell into a comfortable silence, the movie playing on the tv and the fire being our only source of heat. I was definitely comfortable and out of body. I wondered if my parents were home.
I checked my phone, no message from my sister so that means they haven't gotten back yet. That's unusual.
I was about to open my instagram app when Sean placed his hand on my leg again. I froze, looked at him and noticed a sad look on his face.
"Thank you," he speaks.
"For what?" I put my phone down because he had my full attention now.
"For letting me in and cleaning me up, no one's ever did that for me before," he was embarrassed to say as he looked away.
"If you need help you can always come to me," I tell him. I felt sympathy for him because I doubt he's ever had someone that'll clean him up after everything's he been through. It's sad because I didn't know he was going through that but how could I? We weren't even friends let alone hanging out.
I took a deep breath and turned his face towards mine. Damn he looks so good right now. I half smile.
"You can trust me."
He leaned in and kissed me. I was caught completely off guard but I immediately kissed him back, his lips were so soft and full I could kiss him all day but he abruptly pulled away.
"I'm sorry," he says before getting up.
