I'd been ignoring Harry's texts and calls for the past 3 days now. I felt hurt that he could easily be distracted by a waitress who's job it was to be nice to people. Harry's a cheeky flirt, he's not used to commitment and being focused on one girl at one time. But for some reason, I don't know what it was, I couldn't help but go back for more. The way he looked deep into my eyes made me weak at the knees. The tension that builds when our eyes lock is indescribable, he makes me feel beautiful. All he has to do is flash me his pearly white teeth that reveals his gorgeous dimples and I'm under his spell. He's like a drug.
I'm sitting with Rhian in her lounge watching 'Titanic', both of us in floods of tears. My phone vibrated indicating that I had received a message, I looked at the screen.
1 NEW MESSAGE
Harry Styles
Instead of deleting it straight away, I decided to open it to see what he had to say for himself.
'Lou, please talk to me! I miss you. X'
Those 3 words at the end made my heart race, I couldn't help but smile at the screen.
Rhian looked over and noticed my face.
'Ooooooh, who you texting Lou?' she nudged me the ribs. I pulled my phone towards my chest, locking the screen.
'Uh-uh no-one' I couldn't even look her in the eye. I was the most unconvincing liar EVER but I couldn't tell her I was texting Harry! Not after she warned me to stay away from him.
She lept towards me, pouncing on top me, putting her legs either side of my body, pinning my arms down. She yanked the phone out of my tight grasp. I tried to reach for my phone but she pushed my hands away, plonking herself straight down on my chest, I was trapped under her. I watched her eyes scan the text message, her face falling as she read through the messages.
'Wait, Rhi, Rhi I can explain!!'
She looked into my eyes, clearly shocked at what she had read. She opened her mouth, wanting to say something but the words never came.
'I can explain' I whispered again, slowly reaching for my phone.
Her fingers loosened from my phone allowing it to slip from her hand into mine.
'Oh you've got some bloody explaining to do' Rhian coldly responded, climbing off of my lap and back onto the sofa opposite me.
It's hard to explain something that you don't even understand yourself but nonetheless,i tried my best but the words wouldn't come out as I expected them to. I thought she'd understand, we'd been best friends for 8 years after all. Her face begun to soften slightly as I explained to her why I was getting involved with Harry.
'But I warned you Lou, he's bad. He'll-he'll just hurt you, just like every other girl he's been out with before, Zac said he hurts every-'
I found myself defending Harry, 'You don't know Harry like I do' I snapped, I'm not even entirely sure why i was, but I felt I had to. 'He's not like that Rhian, I thought you'd be happy for me, but no you're the one that always has to have the spotlight' I gasped at my words, realising how harsh they sounded, but I couldn't stop the anger building up inside of me. How can she say that about someone she doesn't even know? It's just rumours that she's heard.
Rhian's face sunk, her lips tightened and her eyes filling with tears, I knew I'd gone too far. My words had clearly hurt her. 'How can you say that, i'm your best friend....i think you should go'
I slowly got up, grabbing my bag, slamming the door behind me. I pulled my phone out from my bag, my fingers typing rapidly, my eyes brimming with tears, before hitting send.
'Harry, I need to see you. Come over? X'
-----------------------------------------------------------
I reached my house, noticing a familiar black range rover parked outside already. I ran down the path to see Harry sitting on the step. His face down on his chest, his palms together against his forehead. As soon as he heard my footstep, his face shot up towards me. He got up and jogged towards me, streching out his arms as he saw the tears rolling down my face. He embraced me in his arms, holding me close, stroking my hair. I sobbed into his chest, his muscular arms wrapped tightly around me, I felt safe in his arms. I inhaled his strong scent of aftershave, sending shivers through my body. Even though I'm crying, he still manages to make me feel like this.
'Shhhh, don't cry Lou, what's happened?' He pulled me at arms length, looking at me with concern in his eyes. His hand reached towards my face, softly wiping the tears away, he planted a kiss to my forehead, making me smile.
'It's, It's Rhian... she's upset that I'm seeing you. She told me you're bad news. That you're not good for me. That you're not faithful....'
I trail off as I realise a sudden change in Harry's expression. He's eyes suddenly darken, his usual sparkling green orbs disappear. His fists tighten against me, his lips pursed.
'Harry, Harry, are you okay?' I stroke his arms, hoping that it may comfort him a bit.
He looked back towards me, shaking his head, holding me tighter in his arms again. I snuggled towards his chest, loving the feeling of him holding me.
'I'm fine Lou, I'm fine'.
