Overseer💫
My eyes scan the realm, peering into dreams as my body soars past them. My home feels different, even though it's still the same place it's always ever been. This beautiful land carries a wave of energy that I can feel at all times. Somehow, I can feel that the energy within the realm has amplified.
Now that I have a taste of what it's like to speak to someone, I no longer want to sit amongst the shadows. The wonders of the world beyond my home grow and consume my thoughts.
I yearn to discover, and to be discovered now that I've been released from this cage of silence. Never again to be engulfed by the emptiness of isolation.
As i continue to focus on the dreams surrounding me, one familiar dream stops me in my path. I step inside of it and scan the room confirming the recognizable details.
There before me is a small bathroom in a giant old house. The wallpaper is the same color blue that I remember seeing before. Small details in the room are changed but it's still so familiar.
Leaning against the sink, a woman stands staring at her reflection in the mirror. There are burn marks on her face and she's crying.
She always seems ashamed, and disappointed by her skin. She touches her face and her eyes are no longer soft. They're clouded with water and she looks away from her reflection.
She reaches for the faucet and the water rushes to fill the sink. Within seconds she closes her eyes and splashes water on her face. She reaches to turn the water off with one hand and feels around for a small towel with the other.
I move my hand up and wave my finger instinctively. As she dries the water off her face, I can tell she's nervous to look again. Slowly her eyes open and to her surprise she sees that her burns are gone. Her skin is smooth again, and her worries seem to have vanished.
"You are still the same no matter the illusion. " I say as I continue to roam around my kingdom.
What an odd thing to be concerned about. Could that be because I'm usually all alone here? The least of my concerns is how my appearance is. Scars or no scars, you are you.
What a fragile way to live.
As I continue on, I pass by several dreams barely noticing the changes I've made to them.
The dreams surrounding me, don't seem to catch my eye. Nothing draws me in like how Samantha did. I wave my hand in the air and the dreams instantly separate becoming more defined and prominent.
I come across a dream of a woman staring at a photograph. The picture is of her for holding a baby in her arms. As her finger touches the glass picture frame, she says, "I miss you Samantha."
For a second I almost didn't recognize her, then my memory resurfaces. The first time I truly noticed her was in Samantha's dream.
The woman holding the picture is older than Sam remembers her to be. I watch as she places the picture back down amongst the other photos in frames on the shelf. The shelf she has is full off pictures of Sam. They have numbers written on the bottom of them numbered all the way until 14.
In each picture, she looks a little bit older. I wonder what those numbers mean! Maybe that is something to do with the time that they've spent together. I wonder what that must feel like!
I remember every single dream that has ever entered the realm. I recall the frequent nightmares that this woman has had of a baby being taken away from her. Now that I'm seeing this dream for the first time it all makes sense, this woman must be Sam's mother.
The most detailed dream that her mother has ever had, always leaves me in curiosity. It's a terrible haunting nightmare that plays on repeat for her.
In this nightmare Samantha's mother unbuckles herself from her seat, and falls to the wreckage beneath her. There are several people near her, with deep fatal injuries. She just happens to be the only person with the least amount of damage.
She's got a couple cuts and a small bruise on her head. She looks around and coughs through the thick dark smoke. Everywhere there is destruction and trees surrounding her that have tumbled to the ground.
She stumbles away from the area, leaving as much distance from her and the chaos behind her. She tries to make it as far as she can until she trips over her feet collapsing onto the ground.
She's exhausted, she's weak, and her vision is going in and out. Before her eyes close submitting her into slumber, she noticed a figure in the distance.
I wonder what happened to her! Did the person that happened to find her, save her?
