Samantha💫

I glance up at the sky and watch the different color clouds swirled around each other. Thick cumulus pink clouds gently brushing against thin orange streaks. The bright sky, and the feeling of serenity surrounding me fills my mind with peace.

As I settle into the dream, I notice a golden spark shimmering in the distance. The more I focus on it, the light grows and it becomes a golden ray. I walk closer to it hoping to get a better look at the vivid glow. The more that I look around me, the more that I find.

There's a beautiful water fall cascading over the land. With each step I take to get a closer look, I can feel the cool spray against my face. I take in the beautiful view. The water is crystal clear, and the golden beam of light bounces off of it so well. As the light glistens, so does the gorgeous rainbow that spreads across the water.

It's a moment of pure awe reminding you just how powerful and beautiful nature is.

Before I become swept up in another detail of beauty, I hear a familiar voice behind me. I turn around and there he is! The overseer.

"Samantha! This realm is always quieter without you. Your presence brings forth color." He says with a welcoming smile on his face.

A light chuckle escapes my mouth. The way he speaks always seems to catch me off guard. I began to understand that was his way of saying he missed me.

"I missed you too!" I say in response.

"There are so many things that I want to show you!" He says with excitement.

My curiosity of the Dream Realm has been building ever since I stepped foot into it. What could he possibly want to show me?

"Did you discover something? What did you find?" I eagerly ask.

The overseer lays his hand out flat in front of me, and without hesitation I take it. Within seconds, we are gliding through the realm passing dream after dream.

The dreams we pass by radiate a soothing and calming feeling that spreads all around. I also noticed the air around us feels as light as a feather.

As we continue to glide through the realm, I come across a dream that peaks my interest. I reach my finger out and I point to it.

"Take me to see that dream" I request and he nods in approval.

He walks into the dream first, pulling me into it with him hand in hand. The feeling of the threshold that separates dreams from each other is pure energy. It pulls you in with a strong suction that you physically cannot fight.

Surrounding us is a golden sunlit meadow. There are beautiful butterflies flying in the field. In the distance, there is a child running around with a small dog.

The little boy runs back and forth hoping the dog will chase him. His laughter is filling the dream with innocence and pure joy! The dog wagging his tail in contentment with having a best friend calms my mind. Although the overseer has a quiet expression, I can tell we are both moved by the peaceful dream.

As the overseer continues to guide me through the realm, I noticed the air around me is changing. The air grew thick, pressing down with a weight that echoed shadowy hues around me.

"Can you feel that?" I ask him.

Hearing myself ask him that makes me feel silly. Of course he does. I know that this must be normal for the overseer, but everything is so new to me. While I focus on the fluctuating details of the realm, he navigates it effortlessly.

"The atmosphere is always familiar for me."He says with an unpretentious attitude.

I continue to glance around and a compelling dream captures my attention yet again.

As soon as we enter it, an older man sitting down on a bench begins to weep. His fingers are tracing around indented carved spot into the bench. He brings his hands up to his face and cries harder.

As I look closer I notice initials are marked into the spot where his finger was. As soon as I see the letter J plus L in the center of a heart, my eyes fill with tears.

My empathy has always guided me in life! Even if I don't know who this man is, my heart breaks for him. He has loved and lost just like so many of us.

The overseer looks at my face and I can tell he is confused by how overcome I am with emotion.

"What pains him so?" He asks.

"Love" I reply.

We both watch as the man with his hands buried into his face morns over the great loss in his life.

"I imagine that each tear he cries, is a symbol of the strong love he felt before the love of his life was taken from him. I know that feeling of loss oh to well." I say with sorrow.

He looks at me with pain in his eyes.

"What happened to you? What loss have you experienced?" He asks curiously.

I look into his eyes, and I can feel all the emotions I've swallowed for years start to unfold.

"I...I lost my mother four years ago. She passed away after a plane accident. There were no survivors." I say trying to keep my composure.

"After I lost her, I was completely broken! I wasn't eating for days, and I cried all the time. The pain has never left but of course it does feel smaller."

The overseer reaches out with one of his hands to grab mine. He looks at me for a second, and then he lifts his other hand in the air. His fingers snap together and immediately we're in a different dream.

"Samantha, look what I found" he says pointing towards a woman holding a photograph.

Wait a minute.

Is this real?

I look closer, studying every movement that she makes. Analyzing every curved detail and wrinkle on her face. My mother is standing there alive and well.
