The sun slowly crept through the window in the basement of the store where Nancy and Tony's bedrooms were.

The window was in the middle of the main wall so both siblings each got their fair share of the natural light.

Their beds were on far opposites of the large room to give each other their personal space, but Tony was not abiding by that this specific morning.

While buttoning up his shirt, he waltzed and hummed around the large room, not caring about how loud he was. The memories of the night before consumed his mind as he remembered seeing Maria again.

He glided up the stairs with a wide smile on his face still humming. Maria's voice played in his head as he filled up two mugs with hot coffee.

Tony wasn't use to feeling this way about any girl he had just met, let alone any girl he knew at all, but he was confident he was in love.

He was also confident he was going to marry her someday. The only problem with all of his thoughts was that he didn't know a word of Spanish.

But still, he balanced the two hot mugs as he opened the basement door and let it shut on its own. It slammed with a loud thud as he glided back down the steps.

The sudden noise jolted Nancy awake with fear along with a gasp coming out of her mouth. She immediately re-closed her eyes and rubbed them as an attempt to slow down her heart beat.

Once it returned to the normal rate, she slowly sat up and opened her eyes. She was then greeted with Tony's face looking up at her from above.

A loud shout escaped her lips as her heart rate returned to the quickened pace it was at seconds ago. Nancy's brother was taken back by the sudden movement, not sure why she was so startled.

"Tony don't ever do that again." Nancy stated while finally getting up out of bed.

He handed her the cup of coffee and then sat back down on his bed, "What do you mean? I was just making sure you were awake."

"Right."

Nancy took a sip of the coffee and sighed as she felt the hot liquid on her tongue. "So where were you last night after you left the dance?"

"I went out to find Maria. We finally were able to talk again after Bernardo almost pulled me into a fight."

"Is he not letting you speak to her?" Her brother shook his head as he stood up and began pacing the room.

"He's in a deep rivalry with the Jets and still thinks I'm one of them. I tried to explain how I wasn't one but he didn't even care to listen."

The Shark's logic seemed off to her as Tony retold his point of view from last night. "Maybe Riff could talk to him about it when they meet again." Nancy wondered aloud.

Tony was slightly taken back by what she said. "Since when is Riff's business important to you? I thought you couldn't stand him."

Nancy stood up to match his words. "Well, I guess circumstances change, Tony."

She then walked upstairs to try and find something to eat. Tony followed her, still curious about her change in attitude towards his best friend.

"So something must have happened between you too last night because your mind has somehow completely changed."

"I could say the same about you, this Maria seems like your topic of discussion this morning." Nancy suggested as she sat on one of the bar stools and began to peel her banana.

Tony smiled, lost in his thoughts for a moment before nodding, "You're right...I think I'm in love Nancy."

Her eyes widened bigger than they ever had before, she had never seen her brother like this and didn't understand where these sporadic feelings were coming from. "We're planning on seeing each other again today, so I could ask her about Bernardo then."

Nancy hummed back in response as she finished her breakfast. "Well I'm glad you're getting to speak with her again, she seems very sweet."

"I mean I could say the same for yo–"

Tony's comment about Riff was cut short by Valentine walking out of her bedroom. She was holding an empty can of dried paint in each arm.

"I thought I heard voices. I'm honestly surprised to see you both up so early this morning. How was the dance?"

"Incredible! I'm glad I can say that for the both of us." Valentine looked at Tony and then to Nancy after he responded with an outburst.

"Interesting." She said as a smile crept on her face.

The brother and sister also began smiling to themselves, remembering once again what had happened he night before. The old lady interrupted their thoughts once more, "But sadly there are chores to be done."

"Why would we do something like chores on a day like this?" Nancy asked as she rolled up the windows to indicate that the store was open.

She put her hands on her hips, "Because my store still has to run." The pair then agreed to get to work even though they both knew their conversation was not yet over.

Tony was still curious as to how in the world did his sister and Riff make amends, and even take a step further at that.

Nancy was also interested as to Tony's plan to stop the rivalry with Maria that began to take over both of their lives more each day.

But it looked like they both would have to wait to find out the answers to their questions.
