The doors of the exam hall burst open, and a crowd of students floods out, talking excitedly. I spot Ishaan and Mrunali, both grinning from ear to ear. We bump fists in the middle of the crowd.

"Freedom at last!" Ishaan yells. "No more assignments, no more exams, no more—"

"Professor Doshi's lectures," Mrunali said, rolling her eyes and we all laughed.

We make our way through the crowd of spilling out of the hall, the weight of the last semester finally lifting from our shoulders. This was it. Our final exam. Freedom, terrifying and exhilarating at the same time, stretched out before us.

We all get into my car, backpacks already tossed in the back from this morning's rush. As I pull out of the parking lot, Mrunali leans forward between the seats.

"So Inaya, How'd you think you did?" Mrunali asked

"Alright, I guess. That wasn't so bad, was it?" I replied

"Oh please, Inaya! Those marketing case studies always get me." Ishaan said rolling his eyes

Mrunali pats his arm and said, "Don't worry, Ishu. You're good in marketing. You probably aced it without even realizing."

"I don't know," Ishaan said, sighing

The rest of the drive is filled with chatter about the exam, interspersed with laughter.

"So...what's next, Inaya?" Ishaan asked

"Dad wants me to start working at the company. He said there's a new project they're starting up, and they need an extra hand" I replied. "What about you?"

"Same here. Family business it is. Dad's been training me for years to take over the marketing side of things." Ishaan replied

"What about you Mrunali?" I asked

"I will join Dad's event management company. And besides, who better to handle the party than the party animal herself, right?" Mrunali said

We all burst out laughing. Mrunali had a point. Her enthusiasm and organizational skills were perfectly suited for the event industry.

The familiar Delhi traffic crawls by as we weave through the afternoon haze. Despite the exhaustion, a strange giddiness bubbles inside me. College was over. We were done. Adulting, whatever that meant, loomed on the horizon.

I pull the car in front of Ishaan's house. He unbuckles the seatbelt and leans his head against the window.

"College was crazy, but it was also the best time of my life, thanks to you guys.  And hey, let's not turn into strangers after this, okay?" Ishaan said

"Absolutely not. We all are stuck with each other forever," I replied

"We'll make time for each other, promise?"  Mrunali asked
