Zeta POV

True to his word, Enzo checked in me before going to the gym. I was awake after another bad dream. Enzo asked me about it. I just shook my head at first, but then he convinced me that talking might help and he's good at keeping things to himself.

I decided to try. I would love to do fearing sleep. I told him about how I accidentally dropped a glass when I was seven. My foster mom made me stand in the broken pieces for ten minutes and then use my bare hands to clean it up. It was pure agony. I woke up still feeling the pain. Enzo was tense as I was recalling the dream. At the end, he could tell I was near breaking down. He hugged me and whispered that I was safe and that he was sorry. I felt a much needed sense of safety. We stayed like that until I fell asleep again. When I woke up, he was gone.

I saw a text from Dante saying we will go out to breakfast as part of our day together. I showered and got dressed in a simple navy blue t-shirt and jean shorts, along with my black converse. I made my way downstairs where I found Dante waiting for me.

"Ready to go?" he asks and I nod. We make our way to his car. I don't bother asking today's plans, because I know I'll be told it's a surprise. He starts driving and we make small talk. He asks how my day with Enzo went, so I told him. I couldn't help but smile I described the beginning of our day, and Dante laughed with me when I told him how I tricked Enzo while sparring with him. He seemed surprised how long our day was, knowing how quiet and reserved Enzo is. I looked out my window to realize we are heading towards the city.

"We're going to the city?" I ask, a little surprised. 'Yep. we are going to start out at this diner I love. they're known for the crepes" he says with a knowing look. I really do love crepes. We parked the car in a garage, where Enzo sad it would stay for the day. We went inside this cute, small diner that was moderately busy, especially for a weekday.

I got matcha crepes filled with a mango filling while Dante got plain crepes with a berry filling. They were sooooo good. We ate and laughed together. He said the rest of the day would be a surprise. We were supposed to take the subway to our next destination, but Dante didn't want me to know where we were going, so we decided to just get a taxi.

When we were getting closer to our destination, Dante made me close my eyes. When he said open, I saw we were right in front of Yankee Stadium and Dante had two tickets in his hands.

"We are going to the Yankee game? Thank you!" I exclaimed hugging him. So glad I wore blue today. I haven't been to a baseball game in years, shortly after I was adopted. It was so much fun.

"I got us front row seats, right behind home plate. And, you'll get to meet some of the players after the game." I was in disbelief so I just hugged him tighter to show my appreciation.

"You said you liked sports, so I figured you'd like this." He said.

"I love it thank you!" I made sure to tell him again.

We went inside, Dante bought us matching jerseys, and we took some cute photos together. We got a ton of food because Dante said it is a must. We watched the game intently, cheering for homeruns and nice plays,  and just having a super fun time together.

After the game, Dante took me to meet some of the players and get even more pictures. We got a taxi back to our car. On the way home, I thanked him again for the amazing day before starting to doze off in the car with a smile on my face.

Dante POV

I glance over at my sleeping sister, who still has a ghost of a smile on her face. Today may be the most carefree I've ever seen her, and I wish I could keep her this way. I know as we've gotten closer she's seemed better, but I can see that there are still times when she is sad and grieving. Not just her lost loved ones, but her lack of childhood too. She seems fine, but you can tell the smiles are forced a lot of the time.

Not today though. It seems from breakfast till now she was genuinely happy. That was my plan. I know she had fun with our older brothers, but I also know some of their day was filled with deeper conversations. Today, I just wanted nothing but joy. And it was rewarding. That smile and laugh made my entire week.

I don't even like baseball that much, but seeing how happy it made her, I'd take her everyday if I could. I already changed my phone background to one of the pictures we took today.

In the morning she ate all of her food, which shows how much her appetite has been improving. Another good sign.

She is full of surprises. I couldn't believe that she knew how to fight, let alone used that to trick Enzo a.k.a Mr. Observant. Or how much she knew about the game today. I enjoyed listening to her ramble on about certain players, pitches, players, etc. Sometimes I'd ask her questions that I already knew the answers to, just to hear her talk more.

We went back home and I went to carry her inside. She immediately jumped up in a panic.

"It's just me." I reassure her. She puts her hand on her chest, presumably in fright.

"Sorry we were home and I didn't want to wake you" I continued.

She nodded. "it's okay. Sorry, I was just surprised."

"You have nothing to apologize for" I reassure her.

She nods then says "thanks again for today. I loved it." She hugs me then makes her way upstairs.

I'm an idiot. It was an almost perfect day. I should've known she wouldn't be okay with me picking her up in her sleep.

Hopefully she's okay. I'll send Matteo to check on her. She might not want to see me right now. I hope I didn't just ruin our nice day or our trust that's forming.

I find Matteo and tell him what happened. He said he will check on her thankfully. I decide to go for a run to clear my head, hoping I feel like I screwed up more than I actually did.
