the queen made it very clear that she was to marry this season. After being pressured by the public, she made the difficult decision to get married. Plenty of boys would call on her, failing to answer her 'exploiting questions'.
Amelia made it clear that she only wanted to marry for producing a heir. Not wanting to end up in a situation like the previous Queen in which she gave her throne to someone who's not of her own blood.
After her sister's marriage to Benedict Bridgerton, she had taken the choice to follow into her footsteps. Only if she doesn't take it lightly, the Queen may be good at making decisions in less time, but was horrible at handling the aftermath.
Amelia took the decision of fooling her sister and her in-laws that she was going to marry the youngest Bridgerton, Gregory Bridgerton. He had no luck in his first season and needed a way to get all the girls off of his back.
Amelia needed to get the public to stop judging her with the topic of marriage. Hence, they both took advantage of their situations. No one would suspect then to be lying.
But, as usual, Amelia didn't think about the aftermath of her decisions, yet again.
