Josephine

Footsteps on the stairs have my head turning to look at the closed door.
I've been here for six days, I'm guessing, and I desperately need a shower. I don't know where I am or who I'm with. I just know I miss my mom... and Will. Oh, sweet Will. He'll be devastated that I stood him up on prom night.
I can't remember the sound of my mother's voice anymore, but damn it, I can still see Will's bright grin. That damn Swede, why does he have to look so good?
"Josie?"
My back straightens at the gravelly voice, the only one I've heard for the last week.
"Yes?"
"Dinner's ready." I reach for the blindfold–it's a headband, I believe–and slip it over my eyes just as the door creaks open. "Do you like pizza?"
I nod, because I'm too afraid to speak. It's just what he wants.
"Good, good." I can feel his breath on my neck. "Open up."
